K&N 57i Air Induction Kits
http://www.knfilters.com/57i/57i-induction-kits.htm
My car:
Honda dc2 Vti-r 1999
My car is stock atm, but a friend of mine is nice enuff to give me his old kits for $20 =0.
Im a car newbie so can you guys please tell me what are the advantages and disadvantages of the new kits over my stock air intake?
is it legal? petrol vs performance is it worth it?
Thanks

Injen or fujita CAI are good, cold air induction is good, don't go SRi IMO. Despite what some people say, hydrolock is not an issue.
Cold air = denser charge
cai also has a slight laggier throttle response But much more power when in wot imo
SuperJDM.

Im pretty sure a SRI is illegal unless you have the box to cover it up?
Petrol i doubt you'll notice anything. And Performance maybe just a tad not as noticeable as a CAI

Right, depends on your state. Im in QLD, open pod in engine bay is OK i think. With CAI pod isn't in the engine bay.
I don't find my CAI laggy though.

short ram is just for the sound of the car....... makes it louder nicer sound... almost no gains in power....
cold air is epic sounds way better adds power and looks awesome.........
hit up a CAI... dont get a SRI coz ull want a CAI in like a week after....
but for 20bux hit it up for now..... 20 is nothing.. may aswell get the sound benefits ;p

Many thanks guys,
@DCZ 18C , i wouldnt fork out 400 bux for that (i dont have that much anyway haha). Yeah i will just pay $20 for the sound + maybe 1-2 HP increase.
I did alot of research on google. I didnt know what CAI AND SRI were but here is what i found, feel free to correct me, they are all from other forums:
here are some of advantages and disadvantages over the stock
CAI(COLD AIR INTAKE) - takes in cold air duh !
adv: 12-17 hp increase
disadv: hydrolocking, longer pipe than SRI = slower responds time
SRI( SHORT RAM INTAKE) - takes in hot air or use heat???
adv: 5-9 HP increase, shorter pipe than CAI = quicker respond time
disadv: heat problem??
g2g=)

Your info is ok, go the CAI as it give greater gains. Unless you are driving through a flooded road with more than 5 inches deep water you'll be absolutely fine. I've driven my EM1 with an Injen CAi for 15,000km, sometimes through QLD thunderstorms, and I've never had any problems with hydrolock. Sometimes the pod in the bumper cavity can get a little damp, but it never causes any problems whatsoever.
I got an Injen CAI second hand from a member for 200, so shop around.
Try a SRi with a cold air feed + a heat sheild?
In the states they like to use A SRI + velocity Stack + cold air feed
Been provern on the dyno aswell.
Don't have any links atm but I think I read it on H-T.

if you are getting the KN kit for $20 grab it then make a cold air feed to it... dont worry about the legalities of a CAI vs an SRI because the cop is gonna jam you if he wants to regardless, as every mod is illegal...

im amazed how easy it is to install SRI !!
Luckily my dc2 has the box for the pod filter already so its all good =)
What changed after SRI installed it :
Car feels smoother?! <-- well atleast i think so
slightly quicker acceleration
AND the reving sounds deeper =) sweet !!
Thanks again for all the inputs =)
