hi guys, i've just checked out this yellow dc2r on sunday.
(http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=9074530&__sid=12A714EF86B7&__Qpb=true&Cr=0&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32 |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294965322% 204294965105%204294921591%20903&seot=1&__Nne=15&trecs=19&silo=1011)

Im not in a rush to buy it yet cause there are many things that is making me hesitate.
1:The current owner has no idea when the car had a major service.
2:Car's only problem is the abs light stays on and the owner said I will have to replace the abs module.
3:There is no log book or anything with the car so i have no idea when it was serviced or anything
4: Owner does not know when or was the clutch replaced.( my mate tested it and there were no grinding sound or anything)

At this point, i was recommended to get the car checked up at the RACV workshop for a full report on the car. But what do you guys think? Anything else i should do?

did u ask him y it has fresh rego?????????? this always brings suspicion to me as to y the re-rego, if it had ran out and repaid then fair enuf, but it should have 12months........

but as u said, no log books and owner doesnt know much about history, tells me it was bought at an auction smashed, he repaired it and is tryig to sell off for profit...........

****the above is my opinion not factual info**********

im pretty nub with cars but shouldnt you be able to tell if the car has been serviced by colour of fluid? the fluid my dad puts in my car is clear/red and smells like those jols lollies btw but thinks only for auto cars ^^

No i didnt ask him why it has a fresh rego. He told me he had it for 4 months now. I checked the car's oil and its still healthy. Well im not sure if im willing to take da risk buying a car that could've been not serviced or anything.

It should be an okay buy, just get it inspected by one of your mechanics that now Integra engines well.

please make sure it has the right chasis code and engine code. i checked, the engine code looks funny - Engine Number: B18071000198. there's no c. why is there no c lol? regardless i doubt it has a type r engine but the chasis seems to be a type r chasis. so yeh, i am GUESSING that it is a type r with a swapped engine and the engine most likely is not a b18cr or b18c7. looks funny.

wtf u talking about. the 0 could be ur eye problems and be a C with dirt that makes it look like a 0. there is no such engine called a b180........

i'm just going by the engine code that the car has registered to it with vic roads. i copy and pasted it. do you see a c? no? ****, you must be blind. really, there is no b180?! you're a ****ing genius.

oh and do i need to point out the obvious - that the engine number makes sense if the 0 is a c? all i'm saying is, as it stands, the 0 is not a c.

to the op - you could always ask about it. my only experience with an engine number that didn't make sense involved a black dc5 base model pretending to be a white jdm dc5r, so i am biased when i say i would avoid it.

m4st3rpeterly, just a heads up, from what i can see u chose a preety cheap dc2r, how it works with cars is that wen u buy the cheaper ones u tend to get them with more dodgy shit done to them and sumtimes it is beter to save up jus a few grand more to buy a car that is more expensive that you can atleast have peace of mind with.

Guys, sometimes a car is sold cheap simply for the fact that money is needed or the guy just wants it gone ASAP. Just get it checked properly if you are serious about it. You're saving yourself a few thousand dollars if this turns out to be a good buy.

Also, Type-R with a sunroof = Rare. Get it checked, verify that it is 100% and buy it. If I saw this a few months ago I would do the same, and if it's legit I'd buy it. If not? Wow... I lost $50-150...

Good luck! Let us know what you end up deciding to do...
