Hi All

I am getting a 2005 used manual Euro about 80,000 kms which I had RACV inspected today - overall I have got a green signal but there have been some observations which have been a bit concerning. I would like to get your thoughts on what they might imply and its severity -

a) Contamination of clutch fluid
b) Discolouration of brake fluid and power steering fluid
c) Feathering of new tyres
d) Slight noise in steering column when turned left to right when stationary
e) Ageing and perishing of hose pipe (heater and radiator)
f) Distortion of horn pad area
g) Slight stone chips and minor sandblasting of windscreen

Are these regular wear and tear for a 5 year old Euro or would you imagine that it could mean looking for other damages that it might suggest. All quick responses are much appreciated.

Many thanks!

Don't worry about the fluids since you should be looking to get your car serviced as soon as you purchase it anyway - bleed & replaced.

New tyres shouldn't be feathering? Could be that the car needs an alingment which should've been carried out when the new tyres were replaced..

These all seem like regular wear and tear from a 5 yr old Euro. If you're not happy with it, keep looking :) Those repairs don't seem very expensive but you should expect to carry out a service once you make the purchase :)

Sounds normal for any car at that age.

Hey guys, I'm kind of on the same boat.. IS there any common problems that I should be looking out for?

Thanks & regards

there are many many threads on guides to buying a euro which I've posted up. please use the search and take the list with you to an inspection. the more inspections you go to, the better you'll be able to spot the lemons :) but in general euros are a solid car.
