okay guys i took my car out yesterday for a spin cluster works

today i took it for another spin the whole middle part of my EG cluster doesnt work ! km/h,odometer and the pedometer ? idk what they called, its the whole thing in the middle

so i decided to check behind my cluster opened it upp, cable all in tact. so i open the fuse cover at the bottom of the dash , didnt touch anythingg . just looked lol

then my dad told me pop the bonnet and take the VSS plug out to check if electricity is running through with this device thing .. i unplugged it and tryed to turn the engine on so i can get electricty running to test ! but engine wont turn on, i plug it back in still wont turn on ... all i here is a click at where the fuse box is next to the battery every time i turn the engine .. everything else all quiet . my indicators, lights, brake lights, cd player, dash everything works . just car wont turn on

ANY ONE CAN HELP ME ?!?! i dont care about the cluster atm, i want my engine to turn back on >.>

cheerrs sorry for long ass story just needed to say everything

sounds like you hydro locked your engine............ just kidding

You dont happen to have an immobiliser do you? have you checked out all the fuses in the engine bay? I would also check all your grounding points to see if they are secured properly.

check the battery voltage!
and it can be a faulty battery terminal.

its either flat battery,
your main relay uner the dash
or check your main fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay, the 1 where your battery cable runs through

viinnh
18-08-2010, 08:18 AM
na my battery all fine i even charged it . and i think its kinda im possible to have a flat battery 20 mins after turning of the engine , with no music on, lights or anything they key was out .

main relay which ones that ?

i have check the main fuse just the small ones in there, i dont dare touch those big ones (bolt to the bottom)

check all the big fuses in the engine bay
shouldnt have to remove them, should be able to just see

viinnh
18-08-2010, 10:15 AM
alright i checked them seems all good !

so i dont have a main relay right ? nothing to worry there ?

espionage85
18-08-2010, 11:04 AM
im not to familiar with carby, so i wouldnt know if there would be a main relay? lol
started motor fuse?
if the engine bay was resprayed check all the earth points, especially the battery earth.
just follow it from the neg terminal from the battery to where its bolted to the chassy and check if its earthed properly.
thats the problem i had with my car after painting the bay, and i kept blowing my main relay lol.

im surprised that after all that, only raffyboy asked about engine immobilisers.
i was in the same spot when i went to fix my horn button. disconnected the battery to play with the button without pissing off my neighbours. reattached the battery and the car wouldnt start just like that in the video. Turns out the previous owner installed an engine immobiliser. In my case, i had to press a button that was hidden in the car to get the car to start again.

have you ever disconnected the battery before in the past and started the car up fine afterwards?

i also asked......

like butter suggested look for a hidden switch under your seats and dash that could of been installed by a previous owner.

i stripped my interior before no button or anything. there was a switch but i didnt trace it as it didnt work no matter how i flicked it and im assuming it was those super cheap foggies are theres cut holes in the middle of the front bumper

anyways back on topic

i removed the imboliser. when i had the alarm i had to press a button on the alarm key pad to turn the engine on. this is the exact same problem as if you didnt press the button

but i have removed the imboliser and reconnect the wires that start the engine. if i dont then no electricity or anything goes on lol

as for clutch starting. i cant turn on the engine so i cant turn my steering wheel out of my backyard onto the driveway and onto the streets. and its not very much of a hill...

here closer vid http://tinypic.com/m/bduvb4/2

yes u can turn the steering, give it a try just put ur keys in the ignition and turn it into the position before the car starts and turn the steering wheel, magic lol

Also you dont need a hill to clutch start a car, all u need is like 2-3 mates pushing your car.

ohh right it does turn but so fkn hard LOL i never twisted it when i turn the ignition like that cos im scared it might snap or someshit ..

but honestly i know that 100% its not the imboliser cos i dont got one , battery cos its all fine , mainrelay as i dont even know where it is or if theres suck thing in my car . but im thinking its something to do with the starter/alternator thingy on top of the trans under the pod filter and/or some wirings in the engine bay. im pissed hard out lol
