Hey frans, if worse comes to worst then you can always go buy an easy out drill bit from bunnings, just ask them they'll know what you mean. Its a reverse drill bit that you can use to drill in the direction that is used to screw the screw out. And dw they're easy to use :)

instead of using flat head screwdrivers get a nipper wire cutter under the head
viinnh
22-08-2010, 05:04 PM
get some small old metal/screwdriver and weld it to the screw then twist lol

thats what i ment by wire cutter, use same technique as two flat head screws, just shove the head inbewtween the two meat cleavers on the end and squeeze just enough to hold it not cut it ;P funny that your taking a day to take a screw out xD

Hacksaw a slit and use a flat head screwdriver, that's why i used on rivets. Same should apply to your situation.

As what majority has said, hacksaw a line on top of the screw and use a flathead to get it out
where abouts is the screw placed?
Bludger
23-08-2010, 12:20 PM
is the screw countersunk?
im.Kusuma
23-08-2010, 01:44 PM
Well if u look at tiksie's diy carby mod thread, its the cap which sits on top of this spring near the throttle.. I managed to get one cap off with out any trouble, but just this one. I can't hack saw it since there are no space at all -_-
If I drill the screw in the middle, what wil happen to the screw? I don't wanna make the situation worse

Still going on this..! :)
If U can't get it out U may have to drill it out and re tap the thread - how to do! (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?121671-Repairing-stripped-threads-on-the-head-from-those-DAMN-Valve-cover-bolts!&highlight=repairing+stripped+threads) Remove the part to make it easier.
Don't ya just love it when an easy job becomes a pain in the ass! hehehe
If U don't wanna do the above get the car or car part to someone who has experience, good mechanics always have tricks to sort these problems out quick smart.

Or drill it out and use a thread restorer like Aaron recommended in my DIY above, looks a bit easier!
http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy25/beeza4/28572.jpg
Get in there and have a go ya self mate, can't keep relying on others.Doing the job ya self is so rewarding :)
I didn't think I could put my coilovers in a few days ago but I sussed it out and had a go and it was easy as! and it's feels great to know U done it.

He's trying to remove a philips head screw, not fix a messed up thread.
I reckon the wrong screw driver size was used, hence the head was messed up. Happens often with philips head screws. I'd use an easy-out and then replace with a proper hex-head bolt if it takes a standard metric thread.

get my thing from jaycar, you won't regret it.
use the fujiya item for screws and use irwin bolt grips for hex bolts.
I had a rounded lug nut, put on the 17mm bolt grip and out it comes without a scratch on the bolt grip.
the more you turn, the more it grips.
not cheap though.
