I've been noticing an electronic whining sound whenever I accelerate. It also seems to get louder when I turn the wheel then quietens down when I'm going at a constant speed and not touching the pedals much. Any ideas?

I get this only on a cold start for the first 30 seconds or something until my car warms up..

Nope it's a stock luxury. It sounds like the reversing car sound you get from the engine.

Check your power steering fluids topped up then report back :)

How do I do that though? (sorry for being a noob) :D

There should be a canister that holds the fluid. Just like your coolant, brake fluid etc.

It should say on the lid "power steering fluid".

I think you're low on fluid. Especially since you say it happens when you BOTH accelerate and/or turn the steering wheel.
It wouldn't be from engine noise (due to RCA's being close to power cables), as that's only due to acceleration (alternator) not turning your steering wheel as well.

most likely its your power steering fluid, top it up and the noise should go away. worked for me anyways.

My 109K CL9 has this problem at the moment. It is due to low PS fluid, but you should have the leak fixed as well: The seals in the PS pump have failed on my car but apparently it can be reconditioned with new seals. That's a lot cheaper than a new pump. It could also be due to a leak in a hose.

I have that problem as well but it happens despite cold or hot engine. There's also bubbles in the resevoir as the engine gets hot. Do you think replacing the seals can fix this ?
