my car is an EK1. what do i need to to fit 282mm discs for the front brakes?

i know i can use the ek4 brake setup but they're only 260mm...

thanks!

im pretty sure you have to first get either a ek4/ek9 hub or one from a dc2r to allow for the 282mm size

then you have to make sure your wheel is big enough to cover the size of the rotor and the caliper

you will need to upgrade your master cylinder and brake booster as the stock one would not be sufficient

you will also need to change your proportioning valve to one from ek4 or type r to get the right ratio for the fluid to be distributed

hope that answers your question, someone please correct anything that seems wrong

if he's got rear discs he don't need a prop valve

You'll need 15" rims for sure.

But honestly 262mm rotors are fine IMO. Civic is a small car bro

I was looking at a brake upgrade a little while ago, but has been put on hold as want to get suspension upgrade first... BUT IMO probably best bang for your buck brake upgrade (without larger rotors etc could be overkill) is:

1. A good set of decent grippy tyres (I've personally found Michelin Pilot Proceda are very good in dry/wet - best if you can get them on special)

2. DOT 5 brake fluid changed/bleed regularly

3. Bendix ultimate pads: http://www.eziautoparts.com.au/index.php?target=wishlist&cs_cookies[stat_uniq_code]=1821&cs_cookies[csid]=b2ddbf5963106f6d22725e0e8205ac41&cs_cookies[cart_languageC]=EN&cs_cookies[secondary_currencyC]=AUD

4. DBA street slotted rotors: http://www.dba.com.au/vehicles/honda/civic/ek-3-door

5. S/S mesh brake lines (debatable)

Also, upgraded suspension and reduced weight also helps braking performance

@OP:

Why do you even need a brake upgrade? You have a D-series, yeah? Are you going to do an engine swap/turbo?

yes it's for a b20 conversion

282mm is probably a better option then, especially since you're being forced to upgrade as you don't have 262mm. Some nice pads too, like Bendix Ultimates, or Project Mu for the track.

Street use EK4/EM1 front brakes with decent pads are fine. I dont believe it is essential to upgrade master cylinder unless you upgrade to multiple piston calipers (twin, quads etc..), pedal play will remain consistent. Good pads such as TRW lucas, EBC with ADR aprroved braided lines will do the trick just fine, if you do frequent visit the track/strip and actually have use for larger diameter disks/crossed drilled etc.. fine other than that its all just plain baller points for day to day use.

EK4 or DC2 vtir front knuckle
282mm disc
dc2r or ek9 front brake pads
dc2r or ek9 front caliper ( caliper bracket needs to be machined by 3mm)
dc2r or ek9 brake master cyl and booster

are you referring to dot 5.1(glycol), if you do please say so specifically.
im pretty sure honda use dot 3/4(glycol). not dot 5(silicone).
sorry, not meaning to attack you just dont want any confusion.

some ppl might take your advice without thinking and top up with dot 5 in their civic/integra/whatever.
