Applying the "what to look for"

After scouring this forum for the last few days/nights it seems the diff is a major weak point of the S2000. Ive done all the reading on the threads about what to look for etc.

I know how to make sure the engine is in good condition, is there a way to check the diff? One thread suggested to do figure 8's and listen for clunking, is it possible to have a worn diff that wont whine/clunk until its just about to blow?

I really dont want to buy a car and then have to replace the diff 2 months down the track. Where on the Goldcoast/Brisbane area is the best place to take the car for a thorough inspection?

Unless you pull it apart there's really no way to tell if it's ****ed. It's not a "major" weak point it's just not good at handling burnouts.
