New P platers suspended - You guys ever been told to go back to get your L's?

I was at the rta today to get my photo i.d done, and i asked the guy who served me about my suspended license.. He asked me the details, when, where, why etc etc.
I answered them all - I was speeding doing crazy speed 3rd day i got my reds, got fked on by a highway patrol lol. anywhos, im currently suspended till next june - (16 months suspension)

Any way, i asked the guy if i was able to get my license back any earlier and he said something about the offence i have made in the past was not able to be fixed bla bla bla and i was told that if the laws have changed in regards to P platers suspended offences, i have to go back to my L's..

Is this true shit?

OP: I was reading this and thinking how much of an idiot you are...then I remembered I got my '86 Corolla sedan 1.6 carby up to 165km/hour on the Nepean highway when I had about 6 months P-plate experience under my belt (see pic below). I had my best friend at the time in the car with me and together we thought it'd be amusing to record a video of it on my mobile phone.
I now have two cars, both significantly faster than that corolla, yet I've never driven either car nearly as fast as that.

Honestly...the things you do when you're young! Don't get too down on yourself mate. There's hardly a clean person on this forum who hasn't done the same thing. They're just all too happy to put the boot in though, as if they're any better.

The only difference is that I didn't get caught. Nobody on this website gets 'fukd by da cops bro' for speeding/racing - we just get caught breaking the LAW and that's the least of your worries when things don't go to plan. Just hope nobody gets hurt.


Sometimes you have to learn the hard way. There's a time and place for everything. If you want to launch all day or smash the speed limit then do it on the track. The money you spend acquiring your license and getting the car out there will be less than what you could lose otherwise.

Note: This corolla below isn't too dissimilar from the one I got to 165km/hour. I'm amazed at how stupid I was as it clearly wasn't designed to be driven that fast and if a single thing had gone wrong that night it would have been the end of my best friend and myself.

There is no such thing as safe speeding and I don't condone street racing at all but if you must speed..do it moderately? 70 in a 60 zone...not 140 in a 50 zone.

A friend of mine who use to street race a lot stopped it completely when some **** wit t-boned his girlfriend's car a couple of years ago. He too use to think he'd never get caught and think that "its alright if I lose my licence or cop a $1200 fine". He now works in the NSW police force as a highway patrol officer.

If 5km isn't a concern (even though Monash university has shown that it clearly IS a concern) then why not an extra 1km on your 5km? It's just 1 more km on something that isn't a concern, yeah?

sometimes the best way to learn ur lesson is a simple warning.. just knowing how close i came to losing my car and licence woke me up.
i was caught doing 170 in a 70 zone (not something im proud of) at 3am and went past an undercover cop waiting at a red light. he pulled me over and told me i was losing my licence and my car and that ill be receiving a court summons. they checked my licence and i had my full 5 points at the time and was on my green ps. they were app detectives and i dont think they could be bothered booking me (plus they hadnt detected my speed) so he told me that he had taken into consideration that i had behaved the whole time i was on my reds, he would let me off with a MASSIVE warning. although he called me a ****wit and a dickhead, i think he was the best cop ive ever come accross. just knowing how close i was to losing my licence and car scared the shit out of me! im considering myself the luckiest person coz not only did i keep my car and licence, no one was hurt. really stupid of me, but i guess im one of the lucky ones. DEFINATELY learnt my lesson!!!!!

if your car is in good condition i cant see how 105 in 100 zone is an issue below video shows how tire wear is one of the most critical part of stopping your car etc. any way i'm a bit of a believer that un roadworthy cars needs to be policed more in some states :)

i was caught doing 170 in a 70 zone (not something im proud of) at 3am and went past an undercover cop waiting at a red light. he pulled me over and told me i was losing my licence and my car and that ill be receiving a court summons. they checked my licence and i had my full 5 points at the time and was on my green ps. they were app detectives and i dont think they could be bothered booking me (plus they hadnt detected my speed) so he told me that he had taken into consideration that i had behaved the whole time i was on my reds, he would let me off with a MASSIVE warning. although he called me a ****wit and a dickhead, i think he was the best cop ive ever come accross. just knowing how close i was to losing my licence and car scared the shit out of me! im considering myself the luckiest person coz not only did i keep my car and licence, no one was hurt. really stupid of me, but i guess im one of the lucky ones. DEFINATELY learnt my lesson!!!!!

I lost mine for 12 months, am now on the 1 point diversion until july 2011, If I get caught doing anything in that time I'll loose it for another 12 months.

The night I lost is I racked up 3 infringments, 22 demerit points and 1k fines. I was driving a 1.5L Jazz, Now I daily a 3.2L Legend with head work. Go figure. Still on my P's, go to fulls in september, but dont get my 12 points untill july next year.

Dont feel too bad, If you had have killed someone it would be a different story.

For all the people that look down on those who have lost their licences for a long period of time, just because you haven't been in that sort of situation, doesnt make you "better" then those who have been/are.

As a closing note, we;ve all been through it man, it's what you learn from it that counts. I had cops in my region refer to me by my first name and pull me over whatever chace they got for my first 5 years of driving... but you snap out of it sooner or later i guess, you just hope to snap out of it while you're still in one peice
