hey guys and girls,
i currently drive a ek civic with a relatively slow d16y4 engine, ive already got a simolta pipe connecting onto K&N pod, and a 2.25' catback onto a magnaflow muffler, yet, i can hardly feel the difference. Just wondering what else i should do next? spark leads and plugs?
yes, i noe sticks on cars arnt gona make it faster and spray the whole car red cos its a fast colour isnt gona work neither, ive tried to search but havent found anything specific for d16y4. so any suggestions welcome

for a start - the 2.25 inch piping is too nig for your engine. Try to find a 2inch madnrel bent system for best results.
Unfortunatley , your engine has little to gain with ANY mods short of a turbo. So , either save up a few grand for a turbo setup , or alittle more for a nice b series engine .
well, since you've done intake and exhaust already, y not get yourself some headers? will make the car breathe better at the engine end so your catback exhaust will do the rest :D
there's only so much intake/headers/exhaust can do for a car... so don't expect too much power gains from these mods. if you want more power, do a swap or throw in a turbo. and having a small budget won't equal big gains ;)
that's my 2c... oh, and similar topics have been covered many times before, have a search around.

yeh..im saving for a b18c swap in about 4 yrs time, and if im really loaded by then, then the k20, but for now, its all dreams and hopes, have to cope with what i have for now...im looking into getting splitfire leads and plugs, anyone using them? are they as good as they're made out to be?
Why dont you jsut dont do anythign at all, and save up for teh engine much sooner?
They will barely do anything if anything.. The best thing for your engine (which i have too) is to look for 2nd hand parts. Ppl say its not worth buying stuff for the engine so you just get 2nd hand products which save money.
I recently changed from a magnaflow to a Spoon exhaust and felt a huge difference in response. Extractors, good engine oil and maintenance. Depends how much money u want. You can get something to fiddle with air/flow and timing to make it abit more lively but thats gonna cost you for dyno time

hehe..yeh, the only reason i went for the 2.25' exhaust and the magnaflow muffler was because i found it at the wreckers for 100 bux, and they were all in good conditions, so i thought might as well buy it for the hell of it.
enginewise...i dun noe, i really dun want to do anything, wanna finish my uni course so i can do the swap myself
thanx for the input btw :)
oh and spoon n1, in my dreams i can afford that, hahah
well seems like you answered your own question :D
don't bother with leads, wouldn't do much... like the other guys said, u can get stuff to play wif air/flow etc, like an apexi vafc. but listening to wot you've said, i guess you're set... just quickly save up now and do a swap
maybe u can do sum cosmetic changes while your waiting for your power upgrade... and i'm not talking about stickers or new paint, maybe lips, rims, upgrade suspension, the list goes on... just an idea ;)
Well heres one advice that sounds like common sense but no one does. PLan what your goals for the car are and write down on paper, what you want to buy for your car and the prices.
You then have a total and you can see if thats too much and take away things you dont really need but just want. By putting it down on paper also it lets you look at everything in the one go.
If you just keep buying things one at a time without any real plan, your gonna look back and find that you have wasted money and bought stuff you didnt really want anyway.
Trust me it helps.
