hey guys,

long story short, my gf's GSi integra engine has had it and was looking for a cheap replacement. she doesnt care about power but was looking for a bit more torque. was considering just dropping in a B20B. now, the engine wrecker i was talking to reckons the B18B ECU can be used with the B20B. is this true?

i think they are both OBD1. and both non vtec.

should be straight drop in.

You shouldnt use the B18B ecu with the B20B unless its been chipped as the B18 P74/P75 is not mapped for a 200cc larger displacement engine. Either secure yourself an OBD1 B20 ecu, or get yours chipped to take a B20 rom. Also, be careful, as there are at least two types of modern B20 engines in the crv. The older B20B types have considerably less power and compression as the newer B20B/B20Z engines.

I think its something like:
94 kw / 178 nm and 8.8:1 or 9.2:1 (early B20B)
109 kw / 180 nm and 9.6:1 (later B20B/B20Z)

It doesnt look like much of a difference on paper but 94 kilowatts is equal to a sohc civic lol. Just a few things to look out for. Apart from that, its a bolt in swap.

im probably just going for the B3 rather than the B8 simply becos its easier to source. read a few guys in the states who hav done this swap and just use the LS/RS ECU. i dunno, trying to keep it budget so we'll see how it goes

know heaps of people running gsi computer with B20 engine, been running fine for couple years now. if the car is automatic you wont feel much difference
