hey guys. if some of you remember i had a thrustbearing issue a few months ago. finally got around to fixing it. but i waited to late.

now i found the receipt for the clutch today and it was ordered through toda along with a flywheel. and was put in there approx 8 thousand km's ago.

i do not know the brand or type of clutch other then its a 3 puck clutch.

there was no thrust bearing on the list of things replaced so i assume whoever put it in reused the old thrust bearing.

when i saw the presure plate the fins where bent in and gashes where taken out of the fins about 1 mm deep.

this car is needed every day and i cannot afford to have it off the road for tmore then a few days, so i took the risk and replaced the thrust bearing and not the pressure plate.

car drives fine, but a little bit of a squeek pretty quite, and very faint smell of metal on metal. rubbing..

so my question is,

when i get a new pressure plate how am i going to match the plate to the clutch. and

what exactly is going on inside the gearbox now, will that thrust bearing adapt to the groves and last at least a few months? ( i do know that this is a completely temporary thing and needed the car asap.

please no flames. this is a complete temporary thing as i needed the car to be going.

that's odd clutch kit usually comes with thrust bearing, has the springs come out of the clutch?

Alex,

Generally speaking, I don't think people note that they changed the thrust bearing as it's assumed requirements (like saying you went to the toilet instead of saying you went to the toilet but wiped your ass haha).

That does look strange on the fins on the pressure plate, can't say i've seen that kind of wear before.

who done the clutch job?

Looks like failed release / thrust bearing or WRONG bearing for application ( hence
The faces of the pressure plate are bent ! )

It is required to change the thrust bearing and pilot bearing, and also machine flywheel at every clutch change.

I'm with Ben. Looks like a seized (or semi-seized) thrust bearing has caused that damage to the pressure plate. If you're changing the pressure plate, then inspect the thrust bearing for uneven wear. Personally though, I'd just replace the thrust bearing at the same time to save you the hassle of having to take it all apart again later if something isn't right.

hey guys well when i bought the car it drove fine just a little noise (squeal)... but other then that the throw was fine and clutch engages and disengaged fine.

and yes the thrust bearing i took out was completely seized.

so my question still lies whats going to happen to the new thrust bearing i put in?
