Dunno what fuel economy on a manual is like but the Mrs has a '00 CRV sport as her daily. Gets about 8L per 100 on the highway and 10L around town. Quite economical for the size of the car. Insurance is pretty good - ~$700 a year for both of us - rating 1 Suncorp. We bought it with 100k on it and now has 150 and it still feels very very tight. These cars are extremely durable and provided they're serviced regularly should easily hit 250-300k+ with nothing more than routine maintenance. They're arguably still the most attractive CRV Honda's ever made imo as well.
