i dont think you can clean alloy with acid mate,

only thing would be to hot tank it.

ECU-MAN

Stealth, since this thing came to me for a h2o pump, I dint want to disturbe the mess, but you can scrape that ugly stuff out by hand then use an engine flush aditive in the oil and fulsh the system, drain oil and change filter and oil.
I used this Stuff called megapower www.megapower.com this stuff is great.

joyride the car had done 180k last service was due 150 according to the sticker. I had never seen this car before so Im not sure on its true history.

if a H22A hasnt been oil changed for 20K's.....would you say it would be beginning to become like this? i mean, is 20K's bad

doubt it will look that bad if 20k no service, look down the oil filler hole, u should be able to see it.

ECU-MAN

yeah 20 would be sort of pushing it but wouldnt be causing vegimite build up unless it had missed another 20k servive prior.
also oil quality has alot to do with this. crap oil and 20k wont be good

well the car has only done 56K...

servicings were: 5,10,15,25,35 upto 56K....

not sure if i should buy it or not...would an RAC guy be good enough to check it out for me? or is there anyway someone experienced can?

because i can get someone who works at Honda servicings to check it out for me..

Just because the top of the head looks clean.....it doesn't mean the rest of the engine is in good nick :)

Pfft true to some extent but its still better seeing it clean than dirty like this one!

My mate did 40k over on his pulsar and he still neglects it...I think that was from about 200-240k and I did a service for him, he still only changes it at 20k+ lol. Girl at work hadnt had a service in 2 years on her yaris and I checked her oil and it didn't even read, she still said was broke and didn't fill it even after my warnings. Another story my neighbour did 80k on a brand new engine and it finally gave way :P.

As for that guy with the H22A change that shit! I feel bad if I go 1k over 5k services with mine, anything with any performance In mind deserves 5k changes, Id feel bad even not changing my mums getz after 10-15k lol.

can that even be fixed/cleaned?

yes this can be fixed still, but very labour intense.
they have to remove as much grease as possible with tools, then they use some chemical to clean and pull the sump out and clean everything.

search on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC-SxrsgEwo

this guy show how to clean this.

caused from topping up oil instead of changing and mixing brands
heres a VE commonwhore i did today NOTE!! the more u disturb the sludge the higher your chance of blocking the pick up if this happens fill the engine up with injector cleaner via the dipstick tube and let it sit over night to make the sludge disolve http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/535879_10151083276220036_1822798127_n.jpg [IMG]http://sphotos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/481035_10151083275900036_2069770961_n.jpg
