Hi all

for the techies out there - a technical question re oil changes....

i drive my car maybe once a week. it sits in the garage the rest of the time. In one year i will be lucky to do 5000km (so my 98 VTI-R Integra has around 42000km now). Ive been servicing it regularly based on kms.....ie every 5000km but im wondering if you guys think its better to change oil and service it based on a set time rather than kms?

looking forward to your input!

regards

zac

usually i would either change my oil at every 5,000km's or every 5-6 months

my only input is - DRIVE YOUR CAR MORE!

(and use good quality oil if it is going to sit for so long (it slowly breaks down))

call an oil manufactureer and ask them how long you should leave it in...

Enjoy it while you have it, no point leaving it in the garage all the time

yeah u should becuase it degrades anyway. and if u dont drive often, it means every time u drive there is more engine wear (less oil already hanging around the parts ) so it means more crap gets into the oil than say, someone who starts their car everyday and drives a reasonable distance (more than 10mins )
