So i finally got my Injen CAI on this week and decided to fit it tonight (friday night) , and thought i would let you all know about my experence with this kit.
I have read everywere that the Injen CAI kit is the bees knees for CL9 and other Hondas, but to be honest i thought the quality of the product was good, very well made and presents well in engine bay but thats about it. The fitment of this product was absolutly shoking, it didnt fit at all. After spending a few hours trying to make it look like it fit was a nightmare, the bottom pipe has a bracket that u secure to bottom of battery tray or there abouts and the bracket is so long that it permently rubs on gaurd lining, only a matter of time till theres a hole there just a few inches from my tyre!
Secondly the filter is permently rubbing on steel and had to mounted **** eyed to avoid this, the top breather arangment is crap and also has to be mounted **** eyed to be lined up.
The top mount where the bracket bolts to the battery clamp looks crappy and also doesnt line up, your battery clamp bolts are now on a lean and ya clamp is crooked!!!

As this was advised to me to be the best product to buy for my car i was extreamly dissapointed and would not reccomend it to anyone! If your saving your money to buy one of these kits, forget about it, go to performance workshop and get a custom one made, it would cost u same if not cheaper and would fit a hell of a lot better and u wont be having the dramas of fitting it yourself and stress about it lining up. I also have bought one of these kits for my FN2R and there is noway that im going to be fitting it, the only reason its still attached to accord is im to lazy to remove as fitting was a major job!!

The injen was the first car mod I decided to do myself, and found it very straight forward and everything fit perfectly! You just need to turn the piping a little which clamps onto the TB and fix the angling a bit from the second piece connector, other than that there weren't really be any issues!

Also, I don't think the pod should be rubbing against the guard, you might need to go back and play around with it a bit. Good luck! :D

u sure you bought the right injen intake? i dunno if there's one for the CU2 but the CL9 one shouldnt rub at all. fitment is perfect and a monkey can install it provided he has the right tools....
post pics of your install

It took me a couple of hours to fully install it. I found that the fitment was something that you had to get right by adjusting little aspects of how everything connects together. It's not as simple as plugging in a power plug into a socket.

If your problems can't be solved with minor adjustments, maybe you did receive the wrong kit...

I have attached a few photos of install but as i said earlier, it presents well. The install was correct, i even downloaded the intrustions from the Injen website. I honestly dont think it was anything to do with the installer, more then likely it is the wrong kit if all u guys say yours fits well.
Have a look anyway and tell me if it looks like same kit as yours, sorry about poxy phone camera

Maybe the car has been in an accident???

Why would u pay someone to do something u can do yourself! I am more then confident in fitting a CAI, I have changed engines and turbos and clutches ect in past!
The car hasn't been in any accidents as it's a 1owner car and I know all of it's history!

There's alot of skeptics on here, trust me its nothing to do with car or fitter, just product! The whole reason for this post was to let people know of the bad side of the injen intake, when I bought it I had never heard anything bad about them! Just my experience anyway!

Correct me if I'm wrong. But when I installed my CAI, took me 1hr however with 3 other mates =D. Anyway, I realised the fitment isn't 100%. Like where the thing sits on the battery, abit on an angle, one of sensors had to be flexed around and in the hole. I'm guessing it was made for the CL7 euro r? Hence why the fitment isn't perfect but it can be done!. Maybe your product was faulty?

05-09-2010, 09:18 PM
yeh dude, the fitment on this thing was like 98% for me, the only issue i had was with the breather pipe, so i just got a longer line of vacuum hose which solved that.. no rubbing of anything anywhere.. u prob just got a faulty version.

DR1V3R
05-09-2010, 09:48 PM
It's based on the yankee spec accord which is left hand drive and slightly different! If it was based on the CL7 it would fit the money!
I've got it all to work and not rub but mounting this cockeyed isn't the way a quality part should have to be fitted, if I bought a cheap china kit then would expect that but not a $500 kit made in the US

sangyz

Yeah. Unlucky? Just fit it however to get it done!

07-09-2010, 04:30 PM
Actually one for the CL7 or CL7R probably wouldn't fit at all. As everyone's said; these things need adjustment. Did you try loosening the battery's brackets and shifting that around as well?

Yer mate did everything! As I said earlier I have got it sorted, just disappointed in fit for an advertised top shelf product

i got a hps one that was half the price and fit perdectly. with the injen one everyone seems to remove the metal breather pipe but i didnt have to change anything. fits perfectly and roars like a lion lol

Mine actually fit quite well. Maybe the pipe dimensions are longer than its meant to be but so far I've only heard good things about the INJEN CAI. Bad luck!

You can always convert it to a short ram :)

presents really well, but can see what u mean by twists the battery clamp etc. On my last car (97 civic) i got a performance shop to make the intake up for me, from the front bar all the way upto the throttle body, costed me $150 including k&n pod filter and all the clamps and flex hosing. Money well spent, they polished the piping too.

I don't remember any major problems with my injen intake...
Only little thing was the hose at the top that don't really align, and that an easy fix.

hey guys, i installed my INJEN CAI last year. Took me awhile though. Only thing i got CEL after a week. Got it diagnosed and it was the o2 sensor. My friend had the same problem with the o2 sensor. Just wondering if you guys had the same problem.

What is CEL? I get the ABS, VSA and Traction Control lights popping up on the dash when I hit 6,000rpm in third gear.

Any relation?

hey guys, did you guys find any change in fuel consumption after installing the injen CAI? my consumption reads 10.7L/100km on the trip computer, which is the same prior to injen installation, but it seems like the fuel gauge is dropping quicker than it used to.. maybe its just me

Anyway took it for a quick spin and WOW absolutely love it you can actully feel the added power and torque and let's not forget about the great rawr it unleashes make the car alot more fun to drive

Oh so true :( But to be honest, I never really noticed a difference in fuel consumption even though I like to hear the Injen everywhere I go :P

I don't think this mod allows for driving through water much deeper than 15cm (lol). I am glad these things are now manufactured for cars. 30 years ago, I hand made one for my Escort RS2000. I think I invented the idea (lol) after seeing the first cars with mass produced fuel injection systems. I was fascinated by the fancy intake systems and decided to do one for my non-fuel injected car (for those that know what those were).

Crapdaz

For the OP problem - could it be the fact that his battery was not factory (overall dimensions were larger), thus the piping does not fit exact.

Not 15cm prob around 40cm until the pod is fully submerged.

your intake is different to mine, your pipe is larger diameter, take offs in different angle etc
