hi everyone... i went put my car on the dyno today.. and i dunno if i should be happy or not.

toda lightened flywheel
whale penis intake.
only made 133.8 hp

how much power were u expecting?
its all relative to the dyno.. its just a number and doesnt mean much and is really just used for tuning as a rolling road and maybe before and after comparisions and nothing else.
there are dynoes which read cars 150kw and got beat by my civic with 110kw. doesnt mean jack.

Std ecu?
Replace the whale penis with a 70mm pipe, there's 5hp for the taking.

Yeah stock ecu... Toda I have sent you several pm's with no reply... Regarding itb's

Yeah, whale penis is robbing you of some power there mate. Isolate it from that heat soak or else it's worthless but for sound/baller points.
Are you using the JDM ITR header?
Otherwise it depends on the dyno a bit, but if you were to get CAI and an ECU/tune I reckon you could expect 140-150 HP.

Yeah using stock 96 spec header which I have been told is useless lol... Toda in regard to 70mm piping where should I route it to front bar??

Pod sits under the ABS thing, where the resonator used to be.

Really?? I replied twice... Didn't it go through? Send it again & I'll get onto it.
Re 70mm pipe, if you don't have ABS, go through the inner guard, outboard of the chassis rail, behind the headlight.
The filter should be just on the otherside... If made from mandrel bent 70mm pipe, this length will be pretty much on the money.
Or, buy an injen, but the above intake works a little better. :)

keeping in mind its a b18cr? i thought they had 200hp stock? so ive lost 70 hp... quite a lot... say i lose 20hp thorough drivetrain.. still missing 50 :P.. i do however understnad its aged and whatnot... i dunno i was just expecting a little more :(
dougie... i do not have abs. so still same just route it to where resonator was?

mate i used to think the dynos were the holy grail
in my DC5R i had cai/exhaust/toda headers/rbc/stage 2 cams/ kpro -tuned
it made 130.4kw atw on a rolling road- i was shattered!
mate i took it to the drag strip and ran a 13.471

Your car should have 95kw @ the wheels stock (or there abouts)
What's the problem?
If you want to see a dysneyland figure go use a dynapac. ;)

Holy crap man you don't put all your stock engine power to the wheels. You tend to lose like 20% of it between the engine and rubber lol.

a B18CR will generally get 95kw to 115kw atw wheels on most dyno's with minor mods.
sure you didn't get over 100kw but dyno's don't mean shit and it's 96 yeah? prob a lil long in the tooth, your car will prob pull 110kw on another dyno...
does your car drive well? then there is no problem!
if you want to chase numbers get a turbo or just slap some nos on it!
enjoy your car on the road, not the rollers.

mmmm nos :D... no turbo for me.. only on reds. :)

thanks for the positive comments guys i feel much much better about the car now.. i was just a little worried. but you all seem to have brought me around :) thanks and dont worry its not finished yet :)
as soon as toda pm's me back i will be getting a set of ITB's hondata and exhaust... and that will finish her off performance wise... i hope.. this honda bug sure does bite the pocket :)

Had my car tuned on a dyno early 2009. Got 158 hp.
Two hours later I went to a club dyno event at a different place - 144 hp. All I did was drive less than 10 km. (Hilarious aside - that day a friends mini recorded the lowest ever hp at that dyno - 18 hp)
And you have to remember it's a package - all the bits have to be there and working together. You leave out one area and that limits the engine until you fix that area. You can go backwards pretty easily as well.
And with the mods I wouldn't actually be expecting much - the cam gears won't do much without tuning; the flywheel helps acceleration mbut not power at steady state, the catback may add something; and the intake is waiting for cams, header, intake etc. My list would be cams, intake manifold, exhaust header (weight if nothing else); headwork (port match, unshroud valves, valve seat work) and ecu.
Thats na. If you only want power on odd occasions, nos is cheap.

the loss is not a percentage it's a figure
if you have 100hp at the crank and 80hp at the wheels thats a 20% or 20hp loss
given that theory if you have a 1000hp at the crank are you going to have 8000hp at the wheels or 980hp
the answer is 980hp a drive train will lose a figure not a percentage
you will only lose so much through the drive train and thats the end of the loss
the loss doesn't get higher the more power you put through it

woah 1000hp at the crank will give you 8000hp at the wheels? i wanna go to that dyno lol

To be honest I never even considered that lol. Thanks though...you're right it makes much more sense that way.
In that case I'm looking forward to my head build even more :D
