Just got red stickered today from the Strike Force Taipan for:
- Ride height
- Tyres
- Exhaust
- POD filter
Got fines and red sticker. The problem is I have 21 days to clear the defect and get the fines paid. I currently have money problems, is there a way they can extend the days?
Another problem is, the car is red stickered 40 minutes from where I live. A tow-truck would cost heaps and I have no money right now, what will happen if I just drove it home and get caught?
Also I heard the RTA gives stock standard springs for defected cars for free, is this true?
****ing pigs!
Thanks, hope you can help me OH!
man they are cracking down hard on little stuff.. bad luck... it's only a wednesday too. Does it say anything on the back of the sheet about extending dates?

Nope.
I'm just staying at a mates right now.
Thinking if I should drive it back home. Got no money for a tow-truck, a tow-truck would cost heaps to get back to my house anyways :S
So just wondering if I do drive it back, and lets not jinx it (get pulled over) - what are the consequences?
Another thing is do the police have a quiet time, where they are not patrolling etc?

if you've got a friend with the same type car and colour swap the plates over and drive home.
Its tough what they are doing. 40mins from home is risky. if you dont get the defects cleared i believe they can cancel your registration. your defects are easy to clear. Do it all yourself and take it to a authorised station to get it blue slipped. I also know that you are allowed to drive your car to the nearest workshop. Best to drive the car between 9-5pm going home. good luck.

Thanks for that will drive during 9-5.
Though do you guys know the consequences I get if being caught again for driving it home? - I don't think anyone has plates for me.

yep 9am-5pm will be the best time to drive....
if you get caught you may recieve a court attendance notice for driving a defective vehicle after being warned once before, can expect heavy fines and loss of licence. but when i got red labelled i took the plates off the car and peeled the red label off and drove it to the mechanics and got my shit cleared...i was lucky not to get pulled up or i was ****ed...
remember: windows up, drive sensibly, no p-plates and you should be finee

Dive in peak hour traffic, its when the cops arnt looking out for cars as much as there is so many on the road, try and get one of ur mates to drive in front and then behind protecting your plates from either side. then then just get them to flag you with there lights (highbeem) if they see any cops in rear mirror, should be fine anyways in peak our cops dont do much on the roads, yes there is still heaps on the roads but traffic is heavy so you should be fine.

The moment any police officer or camera run your plates in their system, the red sticker will show up there too. So peeling the sticker isnt exactly gonna save you from being pulled over.

dont drive it - I think its 5K to 10K fine if you drive a defected/red labeled car
You are only allowed to drive your car to your nearest Blue Slip shop (from where you live)
and you should have bookings as well - without they can f*ck you hard

another suggestion as others giving you the wrong idea of pealing off the sticker and drive it back, just dont drive it
if you have a car with tow bar - hire a trailer that can carry a car worth $45 per 3 hours for most petrol station and
just tow it mate $45 cant go wrong unless you are $hithead and want to lose license + fines its your call buddy

Good luck man.
I think the police will scan thie shit out of every car, so don't try driving it unles it's extremely busy roads... Or, ask a mate to bring a new set of plates with the,... but that's also equally risky.
I reckon just pay the tow

I find that down here in Melbourne 5-6am there is NEVER a cop to be seen
Best option IMO would be to call the cops, ask them is there some sort of option to get the car home without a tow truck. I guess it depends on who you talk to, if you get someone who is helpful there might be a legal way to do it which would obviously be the best.

hmmm. Guess its safe to say, stay off the roads with a modded car. I think after that P plater crash in south hurstville (or somehwere near there) strikeforce taipan has been let out in many many groups.
I got done as well yesterday. Got me for everything, and its got the works. Im pretty much better off robbing a convinience store and go to jail.
But though i was let off easy. And i only need an engineers report and blue slip.
Just revert the car back to stock if its heavily modded. Get it all cleared and leave thecar in the stock form for a few months.
edit:
Oh and another thing. Dont drive it home.
Driving a red labelled car renders your car impounded, you get fined with demerits, possibly a court hearing which may end up with your license disqualified for a minimum of 1 year.
And if you still offend after that, you can be sentenced for a jail term. Best way is to get the defects cleared. Whether itd be legit or bodgey.
Thing with a bodgey blue slip is, that if they pull you over again and the mods are still in the car. Theyll impound your car.
Clear the defects properly. Leave it roadworthy for some time. Then revert it back to your usual mods.
or... sell the car as is for dirt cheap.
