Hi guys,
My very first post and unfortunately its not a very good one :(
I've been sourcing a 2nd hand radiator for my honda integra.
What i want to know is if there are any major difference between the following:
1. Aus delivered honda integra Manual VTIR radiator
2. Aus delivered honda integra auto VTIR radiator
3. Aus delivered honda integra manual GSI radiator
4. Aus delivered honda integra auto GSI radiator
5. Japanese honda integra radiator

Cos everytime i've called up the wreckers they say it should be fine, just need
a few changes to hoses.
i need to make sure as my car is putting a bit more strain on the radiator as its
been turbocharged.
thanks.

i jus recently change my radiator, i went to the wreckers to get a japanese one.
ive noticed this jap one isslightly thinner, plus the fans from ur old radiator wont fit. not sure if u need to change hoses.

sorry guys

i have a 94 vtir integra aus delivered manual.
yes its FI now.
i picked up the radiator today for the exact model.
but there was a significant price difference for say a jap one or
auto one. dats why i was curious as to whether or there were any major
differences.
anyways thanks for the input guys, i'm gonna put it on tomorrow and see how she goes!

damn picked up a jap one
and it was fine but then i ripped a sticker that the wreckers had
on..... revealed small crack across the plastic bit. damn thing leaks now...
yeh the stock fans won't fit had to get some smaller thermo fans.
what can i seal these cracks with?

it's pretty much dangerous or i mean useless to have a sticker plaster it shut. when it pressurises, the sticker would just tear off.

bring it back mate! refund!

yeh i know the damn dodgy bastards
reputable wreckers too, imlachs... but yeh i was wondering why
they put two of their stickers there.
i think the sticker was meant to just hide it
now i'm gonna have to rip the damn thing out again :(

You can always go down to a raidator shop and get it patched. SHould cost about $20-$30 depending on the shop. They will put a weld in it for ya and usually will pressure test it also.

top end tank is plastic but.... dunno if they can weld that?
but yeh damn i was quite pissed off too as i had emptied coolant into
it too.... before i saw coolant leaking out of the sticker.
problem is i put my thermo fan on it already and its got some dents
in the fins cos of it. do u think i will still be able to get a replacement or exchange?
i've read their site and it says that i can't exchange or replace if i change the
radiator from the way it was sold in the first place
i still can't beleive they did it they told me there was no leaks before i bought it. i went to them cos imlachs were reputable and paid a bit more (195) too cos they offered 6 months warranty whereas the other wreckers was only charging 100-120 but were only offering 30 days warranty. So not only have i've wasted $30 of coolant and my time putting it in. now i gotta rip it out and i might
not even get a replacement and have to fix it myself. damn worried. :(

during my radiator search i was informed that for an auto car... you can only use a auto radiator.. but manual can use both..
i know for some honda models the auto model has a thicker fatter radiator and the hoses are located in different areas..

I once went to another S.E. Melb wrecked n he tried to sell me a radiator which the top tank had *Leaking* written all over it.. and i said, err.. no thanks id like one without a leak?
So he turned the radiator upside down and said "Look, its not leaking anymore"

I was thinking... is this guy for real or just plain stupid? After seein the look on his face i realised it was the latter...
of course its not leakin cuz all the water already leaked out!!!

all fixed :)
anyways, its pretty hard to source an aus spec dc2 radiator.
they have smaller fins and more of them. However in terms of overall size shape
and dimension they are the same as the japanese ones.
Also the auto radiator will fit the manual vtirs, but not the other way around
as the auto ones have a line for the automatic fluid.
but for manual this can be taken off.
