View Full Version : So I checked my oil

Hi guys so i checked the oil in my ap1 and im running really low. (up to the low part) Anyway should i keep driving it as it is or should i top up the oil? only thing is the only oil i have in my garage is castrol magnatec 10w-40 and i dont have any motul left =(. should i just top it up for now and then do a change tomorrow morning when i go buy more oil? or should i just leave it? hmmm. Help!

Think about it this way. The lower the oil is from the full dot/line, the less protection the engine has. Considering you're doing an oil change tomorrow there's no harm in topping it up with a different oil, especially considering it's a 10-40 so it's not like your putting super thick oil in. :)

but i wanna go out tonight!! my dc2 is on stands =(. im just thinking of topping up the oil and then do a change tomorrow morning.

Think about it this way. The lower the oil is from the full dot/line, the less protection the engine has. Considering you're doing an oil change tomorrow there's no harm in topping it up with a different oil, especially considering it's a 10-40 so it's not like your putting super thick oil in. :)

she'll be right, as long as theres oil on the dipstick, it might be low, but if you do keep driving it and it gets lower top it up
but get oil in the morning and change it

i used left overs of 5 different oils to top up a camry and its still running lol.

Should be alright to drive around for a short while as long as it doesnt go below the low mark. Top up/change the oil as soon as you can though

low part of the dipstick is still okay. it means u still have the required amount of oil to run, albeit towards the minimum. the distance between the bottom and top dot is around 1 litre. your sump holds around 5 litres which means u still have more than 4 litres of oil
