Is the vtec solenoid plugged in properly ?
Do you have enough oil ?
Are you getting any CEL's ?
Are you trying to hit vtec whilst engine is cold ?

No problem,
The vehicle speed sensor is on top of the gearbox, directly below the thermostat housing.
Quck check - is the speedo on the dash working?
Check the following are plugged in & secure:
Engine coolant temp sensor (2 wires) - Located lower left hand front of head (below Vtec solinoid)
Vtec solinod & or VTM (Green plug if present) - check these are plugged in
VSS as decribed above
TPS sensor (on firewall side of throttle body)
If the revs are bouncing around on the tacho, this is usually unrelated.
Usual culprit is a lose spade connector on the ingnitor (inside the dissy)
Fix - remove cap, remove rotor button, remove plastic cover, check security of connectors on ignitor. (RPM is the blue wire)
Reassemble in revers order.

NP re monday.
Re: Speed sensor, if the speedo is working, scratch the VSS idea. (If it's unplugged, the speedo won't work)
Coolant temp sensor & Vtec is secure... That doesn't leave much...
Check the TPS tomorrow as you said (but this is unlikley as you'd have a CEL - Check engine light)
Also check the main ECU on the thermostat housing. (It may be loose - 10mm head bolt)
