Hey everyone,
I have a 93' Civic, 1.5L Carby. And 'want' to do an engine conversion to a B16A or even B16B.
But i'm new to the whole Honda/VTEC scene.
My question is - What 'B' engines will fit into the civic? i.e B18C or B20 etc..
Coz I have heard all around the place what will and won't. Changes everywhere.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

lol, any b-series will fit into eg/ek chassis, all u need to do is change the mounts to suit the motor..

Being carby, ur gonna have to swap to efi as well....

common swap include but are not exclusive to

D16y8 (ek vti), D16z6 (?), D15bvtec (jdm eg civic)
b16a (older hondas crx etc), b16a2 (ek vtir + em1 vtir), b16b (ek type-r), b18c2 (dc2 vtir), b18c7 (dc2 type-r), B20 (frankenstiein)
H22a (prelude vtir + some accord)
K20a2 (dc5 type-r + ep3 type-r), K20z1 (dc5 type-s)

you will have to convert wiring, fuel tank and fuel lines from carby to efi

and you will need to choose wiring + harness + ecu depending on engine + year (obd0, obd1, obd2)

best way to do it is get a whole front cut with everything u need and swap it in - see jonos build thread - hes doing the same thing at the moment

most engines in hondas will be swappable - and even the ones that arnt - there will be conversion kits / engine mounts etc available

it all comes down to:
A. how much money you have
B. what do you want out of the car

Awesome. Cheers guys.
I'm pretty much aiming for the same as Jono, street legal. I was originally thinking a B16A, coz I thought that was the only thing that could fit without any major dramas.
Either that or a B18C is on the cards now.
Need space, and someone with the know how. Hahaha.
And a 2nd car, while this is in progress.

I've been doing a lot of research on this lately actually. After converting to EFI, any B or D series engine will fit no problems. You'll have no troubles getting a B16, B18 or B20 to fit.

Hahahahah!! I'm a ford man, if anything.

And cheers Symphorced, good to know. Just have to find a decent priced and in decent condition B18, I reckon.
