Ok so recently iev started noticing that the clutch feels different, maybe its just me, but any who... from the last time the mech checked, he sighted that the oem clutch only has %20 meat left...

Signs that iev noticed:
- Release point is half way
- Play in the pedal is very noticable
- Some times the clutch causes the engine to bog, like it slips, an have to rev it more to move it, At low revs, clutch seems to slip fair bit
- BUT there is no slippage as yet at high engine load which confuses me :S

I jus hope it holds out till next year, still gotta pay off rego an all before i can fix it up

all i can say is, try not to ride the clutch as much (if u do that is)
otherwise, you may notice that most of the slipping occurs when your car is warmed up.

this happens to me..... turn your heater on and see if that helps. wont fix it, but will minimise it.

Note: this is in my case.

Yea thats what iev noticed, most of the slipping is when its warmed... Ill try ur method of using the heater an see if that helps a bit

Put it in 5th gear at low speed and flat it to the floor that's when u will notice if it's bad but a little slippen of the clutch here and there isn't to bad ..
If you want a clutch I have a second hand one was working good in my car u can have it if u pick it up

Always assumed u put the engine on high load to find slippage, but ill try that as well, i remember a mate had a worn clutch, when he was at certain engine load, the car just wouldnt move very much but the revs climbed lol

Im probs just gonna go and get a exedy hd clutch, since im wanting to boost later down the track, but i jus hope the clutch holds out soon enough

Next question, which clutch for the application? Heavy duty or Heavy duty button clutch or heavy duty button cushion? Bear in mind for the future uses as well, boosting an power output of 250-300hp

Get a sports organic clutch. A HD clutch just has a heavier plate so that the pedal is heavier under the foot.

The type of clutch you want is really dependant on what you want to use the car for. For street use I definitely wouldn't recommend using a button clutch.

well the clutch decided to poop itself today... woke up today, to find out that the pedal was spongy as, couldnt get into any gear, untill the engine full warmed up, than i could engage 1st gear... had no choice but to drive it to work, bad move, ended up leaving the car at work since its pretty much un-drivable at this point... what i dont get is that, its only had 140,000kms, iev heard ppl clutches goin beyond 200,000kms before it dies, yet mine died at that km's :(

And oh, i dont mind the heavier foot pedal, i much prefer it that way, car is mostly a daily, so would a button be annoying?

it'll be fiddly in stop-go traffic and parking for a daily

guess ill stick to sports heavy duty, an considering the pricing on button compared to hd, its prbs best to

My clutch made it to about 185,000 or 190,000.

Just depends on where the car is driven (city, country etc), your driving style, your technical skills etc. Probably many more factors.

Unfortunately for me my clutch threw a spring half way through the 'Black Spur' in the eastern Melbourne suburbs, so I had to baby it back through about 15kms on winding rain forest in 3rd gear until I got to the next town, then had the car towed back to my house for $200.

Ah ok, thx for info, driving is mixed really, some times i have to take it to city... but hopefully i wont have to tow the car from work as the fees might be to much lol

my own experience
an oem clutch, it grabs even they're totally worn
my old one (B16) has done 180000
it slips a bit but still grabs
