Hi,

Is it true that using higher DOT fluid will cause the seal to breakaway, because its too strong?

What is your opinion and what brake fluids do you recommend?

OEM rotors with aftermarket performance brake pads.

dont think so. the main difference in DOT 4 vs DOT5.1 is the ability to withstand more heat and resist water moisture absorbtion. look at getting brakes bled with quality high temperature brake fluid. (list below cheap to expensive)

-Motul RBF600
-Martini Racing Brake Fluid
-Motul RBF660
-Castrol SRF

Alot depends on your condition of your car and driving style. what year and km's on your car?

correct me if i'm wrong. i take it your still on your oem factory honda rotors? if so best/cheapest option is to use/destroy them on the racetrack and replace afterwards. see how they go after the trackday, if worn thin and you have hot spots, the upgrade to slotted rotors.

if your after pads, anything aftermarket will cope with more heat than factory pads. my opinion is the gd3 honda pads can't take extreme heat. i use to go through a set of pads for a trackday braking at the very last minute.

brake fluid wise, i swear by the motul stuff. if your using the oem honda brake fluid change it. your car i recommend bleeding with at least 2 bottles of brake fluid coz its probably never been bled before. with the motul, you wont have any problems with brake fade provided you do it right. bleed 2 bottles before you go, and bleed another bottle after trackday. if you dont bleed afterwards you'll get a stiff brake pedal.

also you might want to adjust the rear drums/handbrake before you go up. technically handbrake and drums should be adjusted at 40k service. my dealer service didn't do it for me. taking it appart drums and brake shoes were glazed and shit. recommend you look into that

Read in the service manual it says my vehicle is not compatible with DOT 5 fluids with my braking system. Must be the ABS or something?

I think your getting a few things confused. Honda GD3 jazz only supports DOT3 & DOT4 brake fluid which is correct. Your misconception relates to Motul RBF600 and other high performance brake fluids. Technically because of Motul's extremely high wet/dry boiling temperature, it exceeds current DOT 5 and DOT 5.1 standard minium boiling temperatures. Therefore as a result some people mistake Motul as being DOT 5 and DOT5.1 when actual fact it is only sold/marketed as a DOT 3/DOT 4 product. So just again Motul is a DOT 3/ DOT 4 product which is formulated to specifically for and to exceed DOT 3/ DOT 4 minium standards.

Honda GD3 Owners Manual
"Always use genuine Honda Brake fluid or an equivalent from sealed container marked DOT 3 or DOT4 only. DOT5 is not compatible with your vehicle's braking system"

Castrol SRF is DOT 3 and DOT 4 standard.
