1- Can i rent a car from like hertz or avis and take it to vicroads, do my test in it and take the car back?

2- what do they look for when your driving like, at a red light keep it in 1st or like can i downgear to slow down n shit like that i have been driving a manual for about a year now i just want to know the little things so i dont fail the test :D but my main concern is that can i hire a car and go to vicroads for my test.. thanks guys

This is how they mark your test:

And yes, get a driving instructor! So useful. They will/should tell you what to be aware of, what not to do and what to concentrate on. Other than that.. just ride the clutch and you'll be sweet. :p

yer you can hire a car from where ever and use it. just make sure is roadworthy.. u will be suprised at them.
first time i went with a rental car they didnt let me coz my front left tyre was not roadworthy.. when you get to a red light you gota keep it in first gear.

I recommend getting an instructor.

I did about 20 hours in an auto when I was on my L's. Then I had about 5 lessons with an instructor, did another 95 hours with my parents, then had another 5 lessons just before my test to ensure I was driving the way I need to in order to pass, and to make sure I hadn't developed any bad habits.

most to all rental companies will not rent cars out to <25 year old.. if u find one please let me know as it would be useful since I've tried to rent before and got rejected

its pretty easy to get ur manual license.

back when u didnt need to clock ur 120 hrs i only did 6 hrs b4 i got my Ps.

dunno if u would will be under the rule of doing the whole 120hrs again which i doubt, u just need to do few start stop practice and you should be fine.

Failing the test twice sigh i should know haha. Gotta be in gear 1 at lights and whenever stopped. Its so if someone rams u from behind, u stall and lock up wheels instead of being in neutral and rolling into front car. Gotta be in gear before turns and roundabouts. Revving car before clutch engages isnt important, but you shouldnt be to slow to hold up traffic either.

P.S. i failed heading back to vicroads when i was in my instructors front wheel sedan and turning onto a road and nicked back left tyre on the curb =/ I cried...

Personally I'd rather be in neutral and just hit the person in front of me because it probably means I'm less likely to get hurt if my car is able to move forwards when hit from the rear, rather than lock up or have more rolling resistance.

Anyway, if you get hit from behind and then hit the person in front of you it's clearly not your fault and insurance should cover you.

When you go take the test they'll have a pre-test sorta thing where they ask you to turn on indicators, demisters, windscreen wipers, headlights, hazard lights and brake lights. I think that's about all they check in regards to roadworthiness... unless you rock up in something blatantly obvious like a Skyline with a massive FMIC and lowered all the way to the ground.
