Hello Guys,
My questions would be, if i'm interested in getting rid of my perfectly mechanically sound S14 series 2 for a Integra Type R (DC2R), what are my chances to get a direct swap (money wised)
I know, i know! Alot of you may tell me that i should stay on with the Silvia as it's definitely more power and etc. However to me, i don't really think i need all these power and a Type R will be the best for me!
However, i do not want to spend extra on moving on to Type R. Therefore, is this possible! Or better still, is any Type R owner interested in a swap??
*bennjamin edit* This is not a swap meet - become a member later on and you can swap , sell or whatever :)

i love the S14 and would be "interested" in a swap but not with no cash adjustment... im not stupid hahahaha.
and no one on this board will tell you a silvia is better cos it isn't LOL...

S14a might have more power, but on the track, it would still be slower.... Unless you are leaving out about $3500 of suspension modifications in your list....
I think you'd get about $22,000 for the S14a, and DC2Rs go from $22-30K

but they race in different classes anyway though mcchook.

i say keep your s14a. they are nice cars. sr20 are pretty strong motors too, and there is alot of fun to be had with them and with the rwd configuration :D
but for cash wise, dc2r are newer cars (audm) and therefore cost a bit more then a 1997 200sx. my guess would be a couple of grand on the balance from the s14 to a dc2r. good luck

Be sure the each of you have the vehicle independantly inspected with a written report so you each know what you're getting into.
You know... Zero greif.
We do that sort of thing if you're stuck.
Be sure each vehicle has a valid pink slip too... ;)

s14a are nice cars.. But the dc2r is a better driving car. Its not always about the KW IMO. RWD is fun... if you like to do fishes, drift around corner..etc. but are we going to be doing that on public roads???? .. stick to the R i reckon.
lovesil: Get a R and ya cant go wrong IMO.

he wants the hear the vtec go "bbbbaaaaahhhhhh" ... s14 is a great car...but the type R is more balanced overall..puts out great power for a N/A about the same as a s14...if u sell or swap there will be a cash adjustment

Yeah s14a's are awsome, they look great, they go great, they are great. But so do dc2r's!
You can find a high kms Type R no problems for low 20's, and your s14 can be sold at around 20 i rekn.
Even though you might be paying extra to swap to the dc2r, The insurance and maintanence/fuel costs of a NA car that you are saving, would probly even out out in the end!
Anywayz Good luck mate.

just ask yourself a question: grip or drift?
i sold my s14a for a dc2r, no regret except for the extra cash............
You will need perhaps 5k adjustment.:D
Go for it, its worth it thats for sure

Thanks guys! I will definitely get a DC2R as soon as i have the cash adjustment! I was looking at a second hand DC2R yestersday (currently selling at National Car Connection on Parramatta Rd for $22 900) Looks all good......actually, it looks so hot, but i spotted damage on panel, which means accident before. It has around 102000 on the clock (which is reasonably for Aus average yearly mileage). However, my girl doesn't want me to change my S14a! She reckon i should keep it till i have the cash adjustment to get a better condition Type R!
Man.......that DC2R is so tempting! But........
Also, i was thinking about FTO GPvR Aero series.....but in the end, i still can't fight the temptation of a Type R!
Therefore, wait for me guys! I will get there ASAP with you all!

if i wasn't into Honda's, i'd definately go the S14a
with a few grand put into it, can get that thing to about 300 horsies at the wheels, and pull 12's
also, fatten up the front and rear sway bars, front strut brace, and lower the bitch, and the handling will be sweet

yeh i'd like to say that the type r's are definatly newer cars, and therefore would cost more, released in the aus market late 98 or start of 99?? somewhere around there anyway.... might want to check that the type r is in good condition as welll... one that's been redlined everyday i wouldn't look at buying :P

I decided to keep my R cos i love it so much... but i forgot to pull the ad off carsales and accoridng to Murphy's Law this is how it goes... for two months i got no calls... then i decide to keep it and get a flood of calls.
Now i have a girl who wants to pay me top dollar for my R :( i am so confused. It's my pride and joy... sorry to hijack...
For those of you who have seen it, you know how clean it is... hence my dilemma... i have owned since day zero.
Once you get yourself a good R lovesil, you will face the same dilemma as me :)

keep it man...
you know you wont find a better ride :)
(maybe 2005 JDM DC5R but thats another kettle of fish)
i don't think anyone will do a straight swap with s14 and dc2r... because dc2r is limited edition its value is more than a s14.
also, all the chicks i know like my dc2r over my friend's s14... they kno wnothing about the car's capabilities, handling, speed... they just like the look of it... and the sound and seats of course :D

dont even bother with the FTO man, wat you thinking!! DC2R's are sex on wheels... stick to it man, cant go wrong... man i'd love to get a DC2R but pointless when my brother has one already...

If you dont end up getting a dc2r, Fto is a good alternative, it is seriously underated on this forum and that is to be expected.. :p hhahaa..
But if you cant afford > 20k, why not get something similar(FTO) for under 20k.. and spend the rest on some good coilovers ...
The best way to decide is to drive a FTO and a Dc2r. then u know which one you like better.. :)

Honestness, if i can't afford a DC2R, i wouldn't ever bother changing my S14a! There's actually quite a few DC2R at 23 - 24K in Syd! And i think my s14a is worth near that price! If people can see my s14a, you know it will worth that price!
