Hey guys, I got a pioneer head unit in my car and it doesn't have an AUX input, I was just wondering how hard/expensive it would be to switch it to one with an AUX input?

Cheers Smiley.

If it's a fairly recent head unit, you can just buy a new one and plug and play. The harness will be the same.

what is the model number of your head unit?

did you want to connect an ipod to it?

Um, I'll take a photo of it.

Yes to the iPod.

It is a DEH P5750MP, if that helps.

Also found this:
AUX Input via CD-RB10 or CD-RB20
iPOD Adapter Ready (CD-IB100 via EXT control)
No idea what it means...

in that case you need to source the CD-IB100 from somewhere. hopefully for your sake theyre still readily available (the DEH P5750MP looks to be a few generations old so their accessories could be phased out by now). otherwise just get a new HU that comes with an ipod adaptor included to save ya the effort & time.

I was looking at the CD-IB100, they cost like 150, may aswell get a new head unit and get a mate to install it for me. Know good places to buy head units, Pioneer?

Hey guys, going to pick one of these ATM,

Pioneer DEH-2250UBG
Sony CDXGT590UI, haven't heard much about Sony.
Kenwood KDC-U346

What do you guys reckon? Anything better within roughly $150-$200?

looks?
performance?
reliability?
warranty?
price?

what are you after?

Not too fussed about looks, I have the Pioneer DEH P5750MP and it is fine for me, so not a downgrade from that, has to be reliable, the warranty would come from the store, but would pref at least a 2 year, price is max $200, maybe give in a bit.

I am after a Pioneer or Kenwood as my mates have said that they are the best, and maybe Alpine.

Which one is better?
Kenwood KDC-U346
Pioneer DEH-2250UBG
Or do you have any other recommendations?

exactly what features do you want/need?

a basic 2 or 3 band graphic EQ and nothing else, or a comprehensive parametric EQ, time-alignment and adjustable crossovers? im guessing the former..
reckon you'd EVER expand your system with amps/speakers/subs in the future? the 1 RCA preout on your current choices will be limiting..

ask your mates to give you specific reasons why they said pioneer or kenwood are 'the best'

imo if you cant save up another $100ish to get something decent that'll last you in the long run, then you're better off sourcing that CD-IB100.

All I am really after is AUX and decent quality, the car already has one sub and one amp.

They say the Sony doesn't look the best and quality ain't the best either.

Everyone is saying spend more money, so I am thinking of the http://www.pioneer.com.au/en/Products/Car%20Entertainment/CD%20DVD%20Players/DEH%204250SD.aspx

Cheers, thanks for the help Areverson.
