Hi Guys,

Am looking at purchasing some Angel Eye projector headlamps...

Just wondering how the high beam works? Is it as bright as normal...im reading around the place that high beam is crap with angel eyes (the ones im looking at have regular halogen bulbs)

Also, if the LED strip lights blow...are they usually easily replaced?

Thoughts please....

eb :)

i got these and the high beams are quite good, cant complain and the LED strip is just 2 LED lights at the bottom of the halo, i dont think these blow easily.

lolwut

U don't have any projectors on the highbeams, they're still reflector housings, so they should work the same (maybe slightly worse) than stock.

from liquid23's sale thread - is this what ur getting?

the projector is for the lowbeams, but these are designed more for halogenbulbs than HID's. They'll be slightly better than stock at controlling glare (unless u can show me a cutoff pic that shows otherwise)

hmm... they look alright.
the car actually looks quite hot with the whole matt black

not digging the audi style led strip though.
probably why i went for the other ones instead.

each to their own - I don't like the ccfl rings , I prefer nothing, or at most, the LED strip.

There's too many car's with the Bmw "corona rings" going around - the worst being the SMD circles inset into stock headlights

I don't dig either, i'd prefer a clean projector retrofit without any of the LED business.,

has there been any DIY guides posted on any of the forums?

also, any guides on taking out our stock headlights?
thinking of doing it tonight or tmr :)

to take out the stock headlights,

take off grill, and then 1 screw in either of front wheel arches, then around 10 plastic plugs and pull the front bumper off.

then it's three bolts and angle the headlights out. Size 10 bolts.

should take 40mins or so.

Bumper off, old headlights out, new ones connected and in, and then bumper on.

Anyone got a cutoff yet? Especially a cut off with HID bulbs in.

MAsterPHO - thanks alot for taking the time / effort

the beam levels seem quite lopsided, maybe the passenger side beam is pointed down more?

Also - is there a wall you can drive up to ( facing it like 3m away to show the beam pattern on the wall?

MasterPHO
15-10-2010, 08:25 AM
Yeah will do that tonight. I know there seems to be a problem trying to lift the Angle on the passenger side. I'll will give it a go tonight see if it's better. Ill wait till night then I'll take a pic again. (with the wall this time lol)

these aren't designed for RHD applications are they....?
this is perfect IMO. i wish we could do this here.

buy a pair of headlights from wreckers and you can DIY, if you have hours spare and patience of a saint - unfortunately not for me.

Would love a set of xenon projectors with a black surround for headlight. *creampants*

DuffyFD

thats because inside of the projector theres the metal cutoff piece which gives the cutoff.

Halogen has a cutoff like this \____

whereas proper xenon (HID) has one like this ____

I am picking up a set of angel eye projector headlights tonight for cheap and I plan to modify the projector to have the cutoff like a proper xenon.. xD

MasterPHO
20-10-2010, 03:40 PM
So mine is not a proper xenon??? I'm confused now

DuffyFD

okay I grabbed these headlights up for cheap 2nd hand, since the halos don't all fully illuminate, which is fine by my, the plan is to disconnect them and spray over them with matte black.

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/7240/126jc.jpg

See the cutoff inside the projector? It's meant for halogens, and it will give that standard halogen headlight cutoff - like the cutoff's MasterPHO posted up

http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/403/130dw.jpg

A closer look at the cutoff.

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/2230/127tc.jpg

hope that makes sense.

Factory xenon projectors are a flat cutoff. like below.

http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/6017/img0191xy.jpg

The plan is to convert the cutoff to flat, and disable / remove the rings. :)
