Hey guys! today when i hit VTEC in gear 1, it felt like the car didnt really go when vtec opened up, it also felt like the engine was just spinning and no power at all. then my friend rang me up and told me that black smoke came out of my exhausts.

my engine was warmed and my oil level is fine.. has anyone else ahd this problem? if so howd u fix it >< don't want to hit vtec again just incase.

p.s. idle's fine and drives fine. cheers :)

black smoke, your car might be running rich, try replacing spark plugs (NGK are nice), and oil filter? I'm not too sure don't quote me on this.

As above.

Failing that simply reset your ecu. :)

IMO, hydrolock is over-rated

ive got injen, drive round all the time in the rain, no issues

mmmm not over rated more people are too paranoid about it, but then again if being paranoid saves u an engine, might be worth it

x2.. No serious black smoke. I know that when vtec kicks in there is abit of smoke coming out. But nothing to be concerned about..

Tyre marker - in case you forget what brand they are
Tow Hooks - in case you need to get towed?
Red Lug nuts - red will make it go faster?
Wing - downforce!

Coome on mannn! ahhaha

Save getting lugs for when you get new wheels...

Get plugs now and change it...and a new number plate thats slim. That big yellow thing is hideous

^ What Vyets said. It's the gaskets bedding in, wd 40 burning off and the resonator/muffler packing. It takes like 500kms to "run and exhaust in".

There wasn't any black smoke when you went for a test run last night. So jealous of your exhaust.

Lol Say What?!

I think he is implying that because of INJEN'S intake kit design, some water may enter the collector where it is very close to the front bar, causing water to get into the engine and that can cause black smoke. I've got an INJEN intake, and I haven't had any problems to date, regardless if it's raining or after a car wash.

I changed my sparkies, and my idle has never been more stable - everything is alot smoother, engine is quieter but my VTEC got louder! :secret:
