oh dude that is so fooked.... im no panel beater but damage doesnt look to bad...
heres a story for you, my friends car got hit at the mall, as he walked out he saw a note on the damage assuming it was the details of the car that had hit him, on the not read, "sorry for hitting your car, im righting this note to make it look like im leaving my details".... we look back and laugh now, but as you said where have all the good people gone, good luck with the repairs

By looking at the pictures
RHS Fender = $100 (wreckers)
Bonnet = $500 (wreckers)
RHS light = $300 (wreckers)
Paint = $650
Roughly $1,550.00. But thats in worst case scenario. Hope you had insurance!!
good luck,

if insured, just go through em, an pay the excess, problem with buying panels, is color coding
if u cant find the right color than expect to pay for color coding which mite work out to either be the same if not more than ur excess, so weigh up the options really
If theres no real chassis structural damage, than its all bolt off, bolt on panels, shouldn't b to much work

it is repairable.
Go through your insurance as it will cost way more than your excess.

True, but also take in account the no claim bonus for the future

i was thinknig: get all the scratches n stuff fixed while we're at it... paint's all orange peel on the bumpers, dings and scrapes around the place..
may as well make it a big claim and get things fixed in one go.. or is that considered fraud? and we'd have to make 2 claims :S?

u will have to tell insurance what u think was caused by the accident then they will assess it and decide whether its "consistent". if its not, they will not repair it for u, u have to fork out the dough and do it urself.
i had some damage from my accident wen i crashed the front and the rear bumper got scraped + came loose. they didnt deem it consistent, so i lost out on that :(
but if the chips and scratches are on panels that were damaged by this... they will prolly respray the entire panel

so what your saying is that your paying for insurance and they won't fix it for you?

if the damage is deemed to have beentheir before the accident then they will not repair it. When i worked for AAMI i remember seeing one case where they only spray one half of a bumper because the other side had scratches... go figure
flipfire a 10% increase may equate to 200 in premium lets say... if you would rather fund for a 2-3k repair to save 200 thats your prerogative

Thats so low, but it happens all the time. One of my friends had a car back into their door when they were parked at uni and now there is a huge dent in it. The asswipes just drove off.

i would love to write the car off, it's a kinda suspicious ES1 without logbooks and has done only 50xxx km's.. so yeah, will solve a few problems.
But yeah i think there is no structural damage, and i'm not the type to go and commit insurance fraud, so it's probably just going to be repaired as is.
If we get panels that are different colour, how well can panelbeaters respray them? how accurate's the colour?
mugen_ctr

panels will be sprayed the correct color given the correct paint code, but fresh paint will make the car look weird, as the tone of the old panels will contrast differently to that of the new fresh painted ones, but given time, the new paint will blend in, i suppose panel beaters will also polish an buff the other panels to make it all blend in nicely

It sucks how often hit and runs happen. So many assholes around.
In regards to respray, unfortunately no matter how good the sprayer is, it will be really hard to hide the fact that its been resprayed. As mentioned there will be differences between the new and old paint:
-Potentially slight differences in colour
-Different amount of fine scratches/swirls on clear coat
-Different amount of orange peel etc etc.
If you're looking to go through insurance and know a panel beater, you could always get them to adjust the quote for the insurance company to include fixing up other damages (obviously without telling the insurance company).
Or work out some deal where you pay abit more extra cash?
Good luck with it btw.

Hey Curtis, sorry to hear bout the bad luck :( You're in Perth aren't you? If you want, I can give you my mechanic's number and he will probably forward you to 1 of the panel beaters that he's got relations with :) Let me know!

I hate insurance companies. full comp is a money trap in my opinion...
I know it has benefits if you have a bad accident but I reckon you lose way more money in the long run..

^it's a gamble really, you pay more than someone someone on third party insu, but what if you had an accident one day? That's the gamble you have to take, cos if your car's brand new and all, some companies replace it for new... That's their gamble, and that's how they decide to charge you
Thanks chan-man, but my uncle's a panelbeater, and gonna help get quotes and all..
thanks anyway.

if it is a metallic colour it will need to be blended in to ensure any slight difference in colour is not noticable
