i got a defect on my car.
i know i wont be able to clear it before it hits the no drive no more time (7pm thursday).
infact, with other shit that has to be delt with right now too, i wont be able to deal with it for a few weeks.
anyone know how long i have to get it cleared before my rego is cancelled? i know it will be suspended 7 days after it was issued, but the vicroads site says it will be cancelled if it isnt cleared some time after that but doesnt mention how long that is.

you can always call them up to extend the time to clear the defect, just say you have work or whatever your reason maybe

I think it's 3 months after suspension that the rego gets cancelled.

i will try giving vicroads a call today on my lunch break to see about extending it a bit.
if i cant then i will just have to get by with the girlfriends car for a bit.

Definitely try and give vicroads a call to extend it. You do not want to go through rwc again.

What were you defected for? Ask around to borrow parts to get it fixed.

wasnt much.
just HID and 1 tyre on the wear indicator.
the tyre wont be an issue, got a make with stock lude rims with new tyres on them he will lend me for it.
its more just finding time to play with the HID.
i dont have the original plugs for the H1 globes so need to get new ones and hook them up again.
plus, i need to get a rwc anyway...even though its only a minor, they still ticked the box saying i need a rwc.
meh...it had to happen eventually. had HID in for 3 years and 3 other defect notices and they have only just now pinged me for them.
