View Full Version : Wierd problem when car idleing - Accord Euro 2003

Hi Guys ive tried to search the forums for this without any luck

when my car sits at the lights there is like a pinging from the engine. Car drives normal and accelerates like normal its just when its sits of idle..

ive tried putting injector cleaner through it and changing the spark plugs with no luck..

ive also tried unplugging the connectors to the coils. first two cyclinders respond but two on the right dont.. ive tried swapping the coils over and same problem on same cylinders.. so its not the coils.. and the car is deff not running on 2 cyclinders and its drives normal..

maybe the injectors are not giving a good spray when at idle? any ideas what it could be?

Could be resonance from any small to big part or fastener. Part/fastener maybe a touch loose or tight which rattles at idle but once the engine revs and harmonica equal out the sound disappears. Just something to think about

what type of fuel do you use? 91, 95 or 98 octane? a common cause of the pinging for euros is that they ping when normal 91 octane unleaded is used. they are supposed to run on 95 octane fuel at the minimum :D

130k.... i took off the ijectors and had them professionally cleaned.. still no LUCK!! any ideas guys

Took it to Honda.. they said two of the Rocker Arms are faulty $2900 to fix!!!!! i called Honda world they can put in a engine with 40k on its supplied and fitted for $2800!! i think that will be the better option?

Why would u replace a working engine ?
i bet most people have something not 100%.....

Get a 2nd.opinion before you go to the expense of doing either option

i know a good mechanic (west side) who i am sure would do a much better price on rocker arms. PM me if interested in contact.
