Hey all,

Quick question...How much does Just Car insurance set their car stereo insurance limit at, is it like $2000 or is that RACQ maybe?...cause yeah if you go over a certain limit they won't insure it correct? or they don't pay out above that...anybody know.

If i were you, i'll prob do the online car quote and play around with the figures. if they insure you, you can up the price. Else, they'll let you know at the very end.

Just a thought...

As far as i'm aware it's a certain percentage of your cars total value that you agree on. Not to sure as of yet as i'm yet to go asking them about covering the rest of my system when it goes in.

just ring them up and ask for a general quote and say your planning to do the system and tell them what you want to do, if the premuim or excess is too much just say ill think about it then.. get back to us on what they say.. but for wheels worth about 2Gs itll cost u roughly 100-150 per year duno about a sound system

A lot of companies go for a %tage of market value - I believe JustCars do this, so does RAC-V/Q. Sux to me be because the market value on a 4th gen Accord isnt much :(

Im still yet to find an insurer that doesnt shy away from vehicle 'accessories' as they like to term it.

Whoa, this reminded me, I have to insure my stereo and wheels on my car.
Problem is, after reading this thread, I'm already with Just Car Insurance, as I'm in that 18-25 yr old bracket and when I was 18, no one would touch me as I bought a 2 door sports car (1999 Prelude for an 18 year old)

I've just spent $3500 on a set of wheels,
ANd I have a full Alpine stereo with full receipts valuing at about $6,000.

I was going to call them up soon, and get the mto "add it on to my bill" but after reading this thread, I'm not to sure.

The car is insured for I think, $22,000 or $23,000 (without the mods).

Problem with Just Car Insurance is you spend 30 minutes on hold on the phone before they even answer your damn questions!

Anyone know how this would work out cost wise?

When I call Just Cars, I get through pretty much straight away!

Anyway, I called them up last week about this too. Max they will insure for a stereo is $2000, they said to insure that it would be approx an extra $70 on my premium- they will not insure part of the stereo, only the whole lot (eg- you said you paid $6K, they will not insure it for $2k). They do NOT pay out the $2000 if anything happens but a % of it or something the guy was a little vague.

I asked about mags @$1600 and it was approx $60-70 on the premium.
