Hi there ohz.

just a question about car batteries.

when people hook up stuff to them directly, for example, neon lights, hid's and so on, does this affect the battery's life?
is it taking anymore than it would be if those items/similar items were connected not directly to the battery and from existing lines?

thanks!

hids wont cause they are only on when u turn the light switch and if u connect things like neons connect a fuse and a switch so they are only turned on when the switch is flicked

so does this mean the answer is no?
or are there exceptions with items that need constant power, such as an alarm?

It doesn't mater if its connected directly to the battery or not. If the circuit is ON weather its neons or whatever its still using the battery no mater how its connected.

If the accessory isn't on, it's not drawing power. end of story.

alarm will use the slightest trickle of power just to keep it from dying - kinda like the clock
