Hey Guys,
Was thinkin about putting some coilovers in my euro, wanting to lower it but keep the stock rims. Was wondering what the ride is like? Better or worse than stock in terms of comfort? And what brands would you recommend?
Cheers.

With careful selection, you can have your comfort and well as a bit more sportiness.
I was going to buy Tanabe sustec pro S-OC's when I had my CL9. They are meant to be great on the streets.
I'd probably go Eibach pro kit (springs) and Bilsteins (dampers) now though. A few people here have this set up too!

From reading the forums and such, most people recommend BuddyClub N+ and Tein SS. Tsxclub also has alot of info on these topics.

Heard buddyclubs > TEIN SS in terms of comfort. There's one from ebay at the moment but wiht 350$ shipping. But since AUD is owning the USD, you can get a great deal right now for about 1250-1300$ I think the seller was kumura motoring.

no matter what, coilovers will be more stiff that stock...period.. N+ is fine tho for daily even on the stiffest setting.

If you want to save $$$ without having the ugly wheel Gap that comes with stock Euros. Just get some new springs to slightly lower your ride height and use the existing shockies.

Cheers for all your comments, much appreciated! whiteeuro07 - looking at just doin springs as you've suggested, wondering about how much this will effect the life of my stock shocks? Will they handle the smaller springs?
DR1V3R
25-10-2010, 06:51 PM
They will handle it no worries with a suttle drop! If u want to slamm it they will fail quickly due to the shock bottoming out ( coz u will have to remove bump stop to drop more then 25mm) and it will ride terrible!!!

I got a quote today for TEIN lowered springs installed with a "performance wheel allignment" and any bushes needed for $875. What do you reckon? $740 for the same with King Springs.

save your money on the springs, just go the coilovers straight up.
i had 1.5" king spring drop on the oe shocks for a year with the stock lux 17's - looked clean but wasnt enough for me after a while.
ride/comfort did not change much with that setup.
I think it was $600 all up there

Are the Buddyclubs easy to DIY?

^ yes
coilovers are prob the easiest diy to do - make sure you get a pro wheel alignment afterwards too

i am also currently looking at the megan racing coils, seems to be pretty decent if your on a budget and if they wont see track days, so for just street driving i've heard some decent reviews from some forums in the US

i've got a question. no idea where to post this.
i got buddy club n+ coilover installed on sunday, brought 2nd hand... (shoulda brought new..)
driving around, no problems.
just today on the way to work, 30 seconds onto the road, i hear this "KA DUNK" noise from the front of my car. wasnt sure if i ran over a small tree branch or something as i couldnt really see the road in the rearview mirror will all that sun glare on the road. pulled over in a service lane got out and see if there was anything unusual. everything seems to be fine, so i kept driving. then later on springvale road driving towards the eastern, i hear another noise, but different from the first one but kept driving to work. once i've gotten out, i checked the car and nothing seems wrong.
would anyone know what problem it could be? kinda getting paranoid. lol

If it is like a solid plastic knocking sound, then it could be the upper pillowball mount. If it sounds like a spring clunking sound, then the installer might have adjusted the height using the lower spring perch instead of properly using the damper body lower adjustable mount.
In this pic, you're supposed to undo the black locking ring that is holding against the damper body lower mount and adjust the height there. But there are some people who adjust it using the lower spring perch (purple ring near the bottom of the spring) which means that when you go over bumps, you can go beyond the damper's lowest point of travel which then cause the damper to hit the hard stop and the spring to make a noise.

ah ok, well, my mate had to adjust it from the spring perch, cause one of the black ring slot was rounded from the previous owner. it was done to keep it even.
the rear 2 is adjusted properly.
is this an issue/ bad for the coilover?
