Changing turbo

Just picked myself up a new turbo to replace my GT2860RS. Only have a .64 rear on there and it is restricting my top end power too much. I have gone with a GT3071R- the T28 version plus changed out the comp cover so it is literally a drop in swap but with a lot more flow potential.

I want to do this in the garage but then will need to drive it down to get re tuned.

Question is- Can I drive it ok with the new turbo on there as long as I stay low on the revs without risking any damage? I have to go through a few winding roads and hills to get there so I am worried that it might damage the engine as it will be under load.

i wouldnt worry to much, since u previously have a turbo base map tune....just dont hit full boost
iev driven a car without a tune to workshop but it wasnt fun at all lol

u can drive to with it just try and keep it out of boost.

when i 1st got my turbo done i drove with it for 2 weeks with no map and my stock ecu and didnt have a problem cos i kept out of boost.
