Hi guys, just want to ask everyone what is market price for the real EK9 in Australia? i saw few of them about 20k.....i just sold my dc2 r last months, was plan to go for s2k but found s2k is bit too much for me....i found the real EK9 price is so high..for that price i can get really good condition dc5 r...what you guys think????any idea??? thanks

DC5R are going cheap atm. $15-18K is about right
As far as EK9 is concerned, it's an import, so it's difficult to say how much they are worth.
I'd say around the same price as a DC2r, They are the same age and have similar features. DC2r has a 1.8 L donk, why get an EK9 after owning a DC2R? U would be going backwards, performance wise.

yeah i know mate, everyone asked the same question...it very hard to find good condition dc2 r, dc5 r and s2k...i drove my mate stock before i found dc2 r is better, but due to lack speace i sold my dc2 r...now i found there is black ek9 for sale in adelaide....but have ea what i want now...

EK9 still cost a bit compare to DC2R and DC5R because EK9 are rare and it's an import. And we cant get it here unless its personal import.
but its depend on what u really want .
if its cost more then DC5r then i rather go for the DC5R.
Like Mikecivic78 said...Performance wise....

I just saw that EK9, looks hot as! I know the dc2r is faster but Im still a sucker for hatches. If i had the cash I'd certainly buy it.

well for $17900, u should at least give the guy a call and have a look at that one. it seems like a god price, as most of the ek9's that i have seen have been going for the low $20ks. seeker in vic have sold a few
its certainly unique

legit ek9 is certainly gonna cost more, as pointed out, as they can only be personal imports, id be weary in buying a ek9, as some have been reborn, rego'd as ek1/ek4

Just buy something with a B20VTEC or K20 already swapped :)

nothing like the real deal
some people just dont get it
you can make anything go fast
but you cant make something genuine
i would pay the extra for a real car that only there is a handful around

I only know of 3 genuine ek9's in Australia 2 Preface lift and 1 facelift, it will cost around the 20K mark.
erm IS actually a DC2-R faster than an EK9 ???
yes the DC2R has a B18CR but the EK9 still has a B16B but weighs less than the DC2 ??
I'd rather a genuine EK9 any day but I am also biased towards hatches and IMO a DC5R doesnt even rate compared to a DC2R or EK9.
Interesting to look at the Power to weight ratios of those cars (and a couple of others for reference point):
EK4 = 160PS / 1,100kg (AUS) >> 0.145PS/Kg
EG6 = 170PS / 1,090kg (JDM >> 0.156PS/Kg
DC5-R = 200PS / 1,160kg (AUS) >> 0.172PS/Kg
DC2-R = 190PS / 1,087kg (AUS) >> 0.175PS/KG
EK9 = 185PS / 1,050kg (JDM) >> 0.176PS/Kg

Hrm.. maybe I eat my own words after doing some math.. doh !!
By your figures the EK9 is actually 0.176PS/KG.
Also consider the B18C will make more torque than the B16B and that a B16B is essentially a de-stroked B18C anyway.
Furthermore the DC2 is probably lower and therefore more aerodynamic and has a lower centre of gravity.

buy that if your lookn . in adelaide too . id love to compare , mine b18cr vs ek9

i think many are forgetting that ek9 has a much more rigid, stiffer chassis to begin with over those b18 swap ek's, making it that much more track ready, just throw on some semi's, brake pads an oil cooler an its pretty much track proof

the price is what it is, you either buy it or you don't.

oops my bad.. i never said i was GOOD at maths HAHAHA.. was rushing those ratios sorry.. (original post edited)
torque ? meh it's over rated LOL.
I really dont think the 'height' would make a difference.. the CENTRE OF GRAVITY of both would be very similar but having driven DC2's and hatches i'd take a hatch at the track any day of the week !
aero ? well again you need to look at many factors not just the look of the 'shape'. need to consider drag and turbulence etc.. and again the difference in aero between these two would be minimal.. the DC2 has a huge towell rack to slow it down also HAHA..
what are honda's official perfomance figures > i remember BMi video when the EK9 was released and it was beating the DC2 around Tskuba (i think) by a few lengths...
any FYi prob hardly any BLACK EK9's in the country as most people would import a Champ White version or Phoenix Yellow rather than the same-as-ek4 etc BLACK.
