Another noob question coming from my end....So I'm selling my current car but need to get a roadworthy certificate for it, my set up includes a cold air intake with a K&N pod on the end, it's completely solid and doesn't move although it is tied up using cable ties....I'm thinking I should put the stock air box in but I'm pretty lazy...do you reckon I have any chance of passing with the air filter in?

A cold air intake doesn't leave the pod exposed, and an exposed pod is the only thing u can get defected for in terms of intakes...

if its properly secured like you say it is then it should be fine. When i bought my car, the previous owner had a short ram intake with a pod and he still got a roady for it by just securing the intake with a bracket. Plus if you get a dodgey, they probably would even bother checking to see if the pod is exposed. IMO it should be fine. good luck with it =D

There's a good chance they won't even care, but if they do just stick the box in lol.
Cable ties I'm quite sure are not considered 'secure'. It needs to be physically mounted. Best thing to do is get a strip of thin aluminium and drill a hole in one end. Bolt it into your strut tower where you have those spare holes and flex/twist the aluminium until it's flush against your intake. Then use a clamp to hold it to the intake arm.
You can buy the aluminium very cheaply at Bunnings. Here's a couple of pics I just took of mine. Just guess the length to an approximate, cut it with a hack saw, file the corners so they're not sharp, and you're done. Took me a few minutes.

Also if the RWC mechanic is going to be picky I don't think having your pod filter in your bumper is considered 'enclosed' either. I'd just take the box in your boot and when you pick the car up change the intake over if they say it's a problem, then they have to sign it off lol.

they failed me for the air intake, exhaust sticking out too far (which passed the roadworthy when i bought the car), blue headlights, neon lights inside the car (even though they turn off when the doors close), aftermarket steering wheel and aftermarket pedals and some bullshit about my windscreen wiper
Half of that stuff passed a roadworthy 12 months ago at a different place but nevermind my fault for just asking for a roadworthy instead of asking if they think i will pass.
I've made a few calls and found a guy that seems a bit more genuine and actually knows the rules...
