Hi Guys,

Would just like ot ask what your take is on buying genuine Honda lube & parts to service yourself (mainly just oil change & filter)? Also your take on Honda service centres - do you get what you pay for? As i was quoted $250 for an oil & filter change with a full check over the car, seems a little steep if you ask me...... Would I be better off going to auto leaders or the like? ($99 expess lube with valvoline syntec)
I've read a few places that you must use Honda genuine parts, is there products out there better than genuine? eg. penrite oils

P.S. I drive an 06 CL9 if it makes any difference.....

Thanks!

You just need the stamp. Repco filters are exactly the same as honda's. Different dealers use different oils. I don't think any at all use their Honda brand lol!
Dealerships make money of servicing. I use kmart to do my services, but I know the mecanics there. Costs 1/3 of what Honda charge for the same thing. They got all the same diagnostic tools and everything, they even get all the same service bulletins.

if you want to be covered by your warranty (if you still have), you must use genuine honda oil filter and any honda approved oil (the guide is in the owner's manual). if you use repco filter (and of course it looks similar else it won't fit) i am not too sure if they will honor your warranty if there is anything wrong. the genuine oil filters don't cost much either.

if you use repco filter (and of course it looks similar else it won't fit)When I say exactly the same, I mean exactly the same. Same stampings, same factory, same filters.
