Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly new to the forum, hope to get some info from experts across the forum .

Recently I've bought myself a HONDA authorized dealer used RED CU2 extras with b-tooth , spoiler and tinted glass , paid 29500(hopefully it is reasonable) for it !

Well , it was advertised as a 2009 car and when i look closely , it was built in year 2008 in sept :thumbdwn:, compliance date is 4/2009 , so the question is , when i purchase insurance , should i put in 2008 or 2009?

Any info will be appreciated :)

Cheers

2009. They go off compliance date. Compliance date legally determines year model.
Don't worry, '08 and 09 exactly the same......

hmm, when i'm filling in the insurance details they specially asked "what year your car was manufactured" so i thought it is the built date.

thanks for your input, just need to verify this because it might be a problem if i put the wrong year, insurance company is very particular about these stuffs :o

Congratulations on your new Euro,I am sure you will love it.

What car did you have before, and what others did you consider ???

Is it a manual,or the automatic ???

thanks ! I had a crappy car(mazda 323) , have been saving up for a real good one , hope my CU2 will not let me down.

it is an auto, i was considering kizashi , mazda 6 and liberty, but it all come down to interior , look and resale value, i find that CU2 has the best looking amongst all, inside and out :)

I agree, the Euro is the best looking, inside and out.
I also looked at those cars,as well as a few others.

I owned a Jetta before, which STILL offers a few advantages over the Euro, but then the Eiro also offers a few plusses over the Jetta.

IMHO,they are the best of the bunch.

With an all new Jetta coming next year, the competition may be heated up again.

Euro seems to be under a bit of preassure ATM in the market place.

Thats well true, i dont think many people would buy the Euro, may be the price point? May be the slow sale was the reason we were able to get the New Euro for the bargain price? I can see more normal Accord on the road than Accord Euro, may be the price or roomy interier in normal Accord

The Accord Euro has been a massive hit for Honda,as the 1st generation sold 45000 units, and the 2nd generation has sold 15000 units, which is 60000 in 7 years.

The Euro has a lot of competition in the segment.

You will find this interseting. It is sales of all the MEDIUM SIZED,NON PRESTIGE cars in Australia,September 2010...

Toyota Camry 2172
Mazda 6...754
Volkswagen Jetta 602
Ford Mondeo 428
Subaru Liberty 384
Suzuki Kizashi 307
Honda Accord Euro 268
Volkswagen Passat 231
Skoda Octavia 138
Hyundai I45...133
Holden Epica 120
ALfa Romeo 159... 38
Volvo S40...25
Citroen C5...24
Volvo V50...23
Peugeot 407...17
Renault Laguna 7
Volve V70...3
Saab 9-3...2
Volvo s60...2
Hyundai Sonata...1.

The smaller Euro has ALWAYS outsold the bigger, daggy normal Accord.
Last month,Honda sold 222 Accords.

Last month was a bad month for Honda,as they fell from their normal 8th position,to 10th...beaten by both Volkswagen and Subaru.

Well Camry is 2172 mainly due to lot of fleet sales.....Does Fleet also buy Mazda 6 as well? Should be a reason why the sales figures are much higher than Euro..

Fleets dont buy Mazda 6,BUT they have a hatch, sedan, and wagon in petrol and diesel.

Euro only has the petrol sedan.

I beleive that in petrol sedans, the Euro outsells the 6 comfortably...

And the majority of Camry sales are to fleets, such as government and rental cars, thats why they have NO resale value.

Cars like Jetta,Euro ,and 6 are sold mainly to private buyers, and therefore have very strong resale values.

Same goes for Ford Mondeo, and Subaru does fleet also......

Bloody Honda.

The Australian Federal Police does fleet buy Aurions, Mazda 6's, Liberty's and Accord Euros - the former two in decent numbers.

I did very well with my Jetta.

Paid $35900 drive away in October 2006,got $25000 for it in May 2010.

According to Redbook and carsales,as well as Wheels magazine, its resale is actually even better than the Euros ??/

ha compared to what? My Saab 9-3 Aero was $75 grand new in 2004, after substantial negotiation I got $22,000 for it when I traded for a Euro Luxury last year. And it had only done 45,000km!

it also depends if you paid full price or negotiated well when you buy the new car.

compared to honda, lexus, toyota bmw i guess? main brands?
i had a base model 2006 Toyota Rav4, picked it up for 30K as demo sold 27K 2 years and a month later
corolla after a year i sold literally sold with no loss at all, sold at same price
bmw 320i i had was mixed, some gave me more than i got it for and some dealers less
i just find jettas are so much cheaper than competition? like for like models?
i find the same with Passat too, they lose value quick too
Saab and volvo lose value even quicker, just dont get it why though?

I've heard similar stories.Saabs have the worst resale values of just about any car.

A friend who is a big Saab fan (being Swedish helps) was eyeing a 49990 aero x or soemthing and they just reduced that to 29990 thats crazy....

and how you maintain and present the car you are selling to private buyers. i sold my 2001 Rav4 and 2006 Yaris to the first persons inspecting the car at slightly less than my asking prices, because i spent time cleaning them inside out and washing & waxing :)

for trade ins, even if the car looks really good, the comment i got was flattering but their valuation is not :(

thats a huge factor, i look after my cars like crazy...
the rav4 i had i got cruiser wheels on it from ebay for $300, $99 fog lights from ebay which were similar to originals and bull bar from dealer, adn side steps and head light and bonnet protector all thrown in along with extended Toyota warranty, and their after sales service was the best ive experienced to date...but the cosmetic mods and maintanence really made it a good seller...bmw my neighbour sold his original 17 335 i wheels to me at ridiculously cheap price and i swapped that with my original 16inch

anyway, to the Jetta guy, well done for the high resale, its not easy to get every time and biggest factor is for sure how good a deal u get initially?

Before my Euro,I had 6 other cars,4 Volkswagens,1 Ford,and 1 Holden product.

The oldest was 6 and a half years old...an Astra TS sedan, and the youngest was a V W Bora...1 and a half years old.

Each was immaculate, and I got top dollar for all of them.

So it depends a lot on how they are maintained and presented at the end of the day.

Service books are also VITAL.
