I am looking for an amp just to power a set of speakers, which one of these will give me more WATTS?
Alpine PDX-2.150
Alpine PDX-4.150
My question is, in the PDX-4.150, the specs say:
# Per channel into 4 ohms (≤1%THD+N): 150W x 4
# Per channel into 2 ohms (≤1%THD+N): 150W x 4
# Bridged into 4 ohms (≤1%THD+N): 300W x 2
where as PDX-2.150 specs say:
# Per channel into 4 ohms (≤1%THD+N): 150W x 2
# Per channel into 2 ohms (≤1%THD+N): 150W x 2
# Bridged into 4 ohms (≤1%THD+N): 300W x 1
So does that mean my speakers will have more WATTS in a bridged setup on the 4 channel amp getting 300W X 2 instead of running single with the 2 channel amp and getting 150W X 2.
Sorry in advance for my newbieness, just wanting to know a straight answer of which one will provide more WATTS for my speakers.
Thanks, Chris

All Amps will produce more Wattage in Bridge mode,
so you are right the 4ch in bridge mode will produce more wattage than the 2ch in stereo

ok ill bite..
given your basic questions ill assume you wont using it 'actively'. if its just to run a pair of speakers 'passively' then get the 2 channel. better value for your money.
dont get caught up in rms power figures. 50-100 rms is PLENTY for a 'normal' use. theres more to it then just outright power but ill skip the confusing technical essay and simply tell ya theres no need for 150, 300 or 500+ rms. what speakers will you be amping?
or ill be polite and tell ya 'yes the bridged will give you more power, spend more to get the 4chan & call it a day'. ignorance is bliss.....

What speakers are you getting? That is what will anser your question.
Do the speakers that you are getting handle over 150 watts? If they do, then go for the 4 channel amp, and bridge it to two channels.
If you have found full-range speakers that ahndle over 150 watts RMS, them please let me know!!!! Even the best $5,000AU ones that I've seen so far state that they only handle 100 watts RMS by the manufacturers specs, so I'm always looking for osmething better!
