talk to WA-EG - he has a mini with a swift GTIR engine in it
he will probably give you some ideas

which D16 do you have?
if you can - get a D16y8 (coupe VTI - NOT SEDAN) - its the best out of all the D16 available in australia

got a d16a8.
i hear you but as i'v got the spare engine sitting here id like to use it.

the gti engine seems to be a common option.
i believe you have to extend the front end to fit it all in but i hope i don't have to.
