I am currently tossing up between a 91 CRX and a 91 TEG. Which one would you say is a better car. I dont know much about the 1.8 motor in the TEG. Which one is better performance wise. Quarter times etc.. thanks

i would go with the crx, but the 91 teg does look good. perfromance wise i think the stock teg would dominate the d16a8 in the crx

maybe you should ask Stabo, since he owned an Integra before, and now owns a crx

get a crx if u want a sporty ride, 2 seats, low, light and fast. but if your the kinda guy that drives ppl around and always have more then one passengers get a teg.

I would go the CRX. Although its a turtle and im a integ driver, it looks good and can be made to look even better. Do an engine swap. B16 or B18. Make the baby fly.

the power to weight ratio is actually better on the CRX, so a stock CRX would actually be faster than a Teg, been there... raced it.
I would go the CRX. Althought its a turtle, it looks good and can be made to look even better.
what do u mean its a turtle? compared to your ride - its substantially slower - YES - but in general a CRX is Not a Turtle man... thats a pretty Bold statement! ;)

turtle???? WTF?
crx's rock. if its the non-vtec 1.8 then you'll find they're pretty similar power wise. the d16a8's go hard. dont let anyone tell you otherways! trust me!!!

Guys don't take the turtle statement to heart. Its nothing about you or the speed of your car but rather what Z3lda said. He once had a gen 2 that looks like a turtle, ever since then i refer to all gen2 as turtles.

i just cant see how it looks like a turtle. a del sol may look like one but the gen II's look like mice or wedges

Hmm well in my experience the B18A in the LS integra is much meatier than the ZC in the CRX.. and i'd have to disagree about the handling, sure the CRX has exceptionally good handling right out of the box, but the integra is also very good.
Neither motors (Stock) have much top-end, but the B18 definately has more potential. is erfect for a LPT (turbo) setup stock, or you can whack a B16 Head on the B18B and have the original 'Frankenstein' motor (180 HP+)
Personally I found the CRX a little cramped, and the LS was just right though I think the LS actually had LESS headroom than the CRX (if you're tall).
Plus there's waaaaay less tastefully modded LS integras out there on the streets :)
Also I have a dream of a H22A swap into an LS integra - i think that combination would be exceptional !!
H22A in civic or CRX is always a squeeze but the LS has more room and a longer nose (plus slightly longer wheelbase) therefore suited to the weight and power characteristics of the Prelude motor.

dude i think you'll be happy with whichever car you end up buying :) i have an LS and yeah they are nice cars, they go quite well stock and like any b series engine, theres immense aftermarket support if you want to modify it. only thing i can think of that would make me buy an LS over a gen 2 crx, is probably its ability to hold more than 2 ppl. having a car full of ppl is fun :) other than that, they're both good!
heres a quick vid of my '89 LS to give you a rough idea of how they go, totally stock

I still say go CRX, dont mind the LS tegs, but they look too solid in my eyes. CRXs are very manouverable, they do have a fair bit of front seat room, aren't a taxi - like Mr.Focus I don't get askd for lifts which was a common thing when I had my alfa 33. You can always drop a B16A or a B18C into a CRX and haul ass with the power to weight ratio!
LSs are kewl... but im a CRX boi... so my finger points at a CRX.

Crap, I was half asleep sorry. One of my favourite car after a type R is the Turtle (crx gen2). Its an endless classic that will never die. You can keep it stock and do the engine or u can just rice it up. Either way its a nice classic. In the end it comes to your personal taste and what your looking for. what 'little niggling problems' are you reffering to man? if you service your car regularly (as you are supposed to) then it will go forever with little to no problems.

luggage compartment...i get that in my integra too, nothing i can't handle i guess

Get the crx man. I had a gen two for 3 years. Its one of the best fun cars to drive, also doesnt take too much to get them going pretty well. The 1.6 in the crx would be just as quik as the ls without a doubt. Theyre both nice cars. but you wont regret the crx.

I already have a CRX and am currently looking for another...but IMHO, I quite like all the hondas in and around that era. So you really cant go wrong. Look at both cars, which shape appeals to you the most. The CRX or the Integra?
Which interior do you feel more comfy in?

Bum suggested I give my opinion considering i've owned both an Integra and a CRX :)
Now the Integra i owned wasnt a 91LS it was a DC2 Vti-R, which is in a completely different league.
I currently own this Gen II CRX:
http://users.tpg.com.au/padness/Black-CRX-Fixed.jpg
It has the Japspec D16A...
I must say i enjoy driving the CRX more than the integra. I believe it handles better and the feel of a small rocket type car can't be beaten. However there are times i miss the integra. The integra is definately a more practical and comfortable ride.
Given the choice between an LS Integra and a Gen II CRX i would take a CRX any day of the week.
As for Gen II CRX vs Vti-R Integra, it would cocme down to a matter of what I was going to use the car for. I'm considering selling the CRX because i need to do long trips interstate and out past teilenbend. Ask yourself what you're going to use the car for, the CRX is small and fun, the Integra is larger but more practical.
Both are good cars and you'll get good resale and fuel economy from each (CRX will be slightly better)
Good luck!

ah well that was helpful hehe :) I realise integra will probably be more comfortable. I'm just worried i'll regret the swap because my integra is very torquey (i think anyway) and to go from that to a d16 or b16 even...i'm just scared that i'll wish i hadn't done it. i do like what you say about handling and the feeling of a small rocket car. but i guess the biggest problem i have is the decision of whether or not to get a car that's 15 years old? i've never sat in any crxes so i can't say whether it'll be easy/hard to find one in good condition

Glad to help,
Granted the car is fairly old, but the styling is pretty timeless, lots of clueless girls have asked me if its a 2004 model! lol
The integra does have more tourque but keep in mind that it needs it ;) it is ALOT heavier than a Gen II CRX :)
Where abouts are you? Im sure some of the Gen II owners in your state would be happy to take you for a bit of a spin. Otherwise the best bet is just checking one out that is for sale, you have nothing to lose by sitting in it or taking it for a little spin.

Hey Man and to all the others,
I noticed at the start of your thread you mentioned "which is better performance wise" i always use to think a bigger engine is better all this and that but never knew about the whole power to weight ratio until i rode in ma friends crx. Big car needs a big engine a small car needs a small engine. I have never been in an integra so my view can only be spoken from a crx point of view. The reason being is ever since 1st year uni when i rode in ma friends crx it's all i ever wanted. It's small and zippy and i don't mean zippy in a wimpy way either. I can say if you decide to get a crx the SIR in my opinion is a good buy with the B16a engine roughly produces 110kw in stock form. And with a few modications here and there u can realli make some serious peformance.
http://crxaustralia.hondata.com.au/crx-forums/uploads/post-5-1112516938.jpg
So whats so good about the crx?
*Fuel Economy not 1 person has mentioned it as much. Being a 1.6L compared to your Integra 1.8L.
*Not a Taxi haha :D so true! The less seats you have u don't have to cart people around which means less fuel and milage for your car. There was 1 time i racked up so many dermit points i was under a restriction to carry only 1 passenger. And did it effect me?.... NO!!!! cause i only had 1 seat anyway so the polece can go stick it :p
*Handling wise sure does feel like a real pocket rocket, in and out of carparks, intersections, corners and all around the street.
*Either way it's a beauty to behold. Keep it stock and clean as.Or make it into a show car. make into race machine either 1/4 mile or track. And yes i did say RACE MACHINE people. It's been done and there is most definately proof of that.http://www.archive.org/download/Gen_2_CRX_vs_R33_skyline/spoonvsr33.WMV
http://crxaustralia.hondata.com.au/crx-forums/uploads/post-10-1109469097.jpg
And in away i like that you can rock up on the grid position (traffic lights) and people just look down apon the small pocket rocket and think yep thats just another jap piece of plastic but you'll be suprised  there is one person in melb by the name of Jons just ask him about performance and he will tell you a few things or two. http://crxaustralia.hondata.com.au/crx-forums/uploads/post-10-1077372854.jpg
Yes a crx is an old car (15years or so to be) but don't be fooled it still does have it unique styling that sure does bring it up 10-15years with the right exterior modifications (bodykits and exterior accessories).

The dude you speak of that imports crx i think i know who your talking about. Actually he has sold a black sir crx to a dude that is registered on here as sula99.And the cars imported may look track driven but it certainly doesn't mean it's fangged(thrashed) around.(you can't judge a book by it's cover)

The best part i love about the crx is it's not something common u get to see on the road. And because of that it definately gets looks and in some cases smiles too. You drive a crx cause you want to being different from the rest of the crowed. But if you don't have a genuine love for the styling in shape, handling, and willing to work with the car then don't even bother. You probably best suited for the integra.CRX is for the selected few just remember that.

And as for that CRX that was being imported...even if it was in good condition it's a bit out of my range. I only have about a 10K budget i think, and was hoping to get some mods with that too...so it looks as if an SiR is out of the question :(
