anyone have any troubles fitting 225's to an ek?
worried about rubbing the insides of the wheel wells on full lock

width of rim and offset would help too

planning to run 225/50/16 on some 16x7 +42 mf8's

It isn't the width that will make that tyre rub it is that it is over an inch too large in diameter. Try a 225/45R15 and you will probably have more luck.

que? how do I fit 15" rubber on 16" rims?
choosing the rubber to go with the rims, not the other way around

Sorry I should have been more clear. If you wish to use a 225 width tyre on an EK civic then the easiest way to do it is with a 225/45R15. If you want a tyre to fit the wheels you have then a 205/45 would be a nice fit. I really think that the 225/50 is a terrible idea, that size tyre presents a myriad of issues with no positives to redeem it.

Ah fair enough
Guess I'll just have to look past the ad08s then
Only decent tyre with that size seems to be the re11s
Don't think the starspecs come in that size unfortunately

Perhaps consider RS3's if you MUST go 225/50/16. Apart from AD08, RE11, Z1 and KU36, these are also considered an "Extreme Performance Summer" tyre.
Upside is they're cheap. Tirerack go go go!

interesting suggestion mm89, used them before? can't find much info

edit; actually might just settle for the 205/45/16 re-11's, probably the most expensive option but what can you do :(

No I haven't. But when you're limited by tyre size and tyre type (I'm assuming that's the case based on the models you've listed) the RS3 came into mind. They may not be the stickiest tyre out of the group but they do have them in your size and are quite cheap. Will it see any track time?

no track time, just quality street tyres
those r-s3's seem a bit soft for the street don't they? rated at 140

what is everyones thoughts on staggered setups on honda's?

edit; looking at the prices now, I think I might go with the 205/50/16 dunlop z1 starspecs again, wanted to try something new but all signs keep pointing back to the starspecs
$115(z1) vs $166(re11) seems to be the biggest winner for me

My thoughts on staggered tyres on FWD in general: Great for track but don't bother for the street. On track you have more heat capacity and a wider, more responsive tyre where you need it at the front and a lighter narrower tyre where you don't.

yeah, z1's are pretty bang for your buck. i saved 50 bucks per tyre even after shipping, fitting and balancing.

205/50 would be great for a 7" wheel. Was there any particular reason behind you wanting to use such a wide tyre for the wheel?

just curious, sorta came down to tyre selection really

currently happy with my z1 195/55/15's on my 96spec itr rims
hanging to put these mf8's on though(had them since jan, took a month of negotiations to get them over from nz!)
I suppose getting 205/50/16 tyres make it easier to squeeze the 7" mf8's +52 with a 15mm spacer under the front fender :p

wanted to try another set of tyres to see what the fuss was about but apparently they're either in the wrong size or i'm just being too much of a tight arse :(

RE11's are overpriced. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're sticky and perform well, but they're not miles ahead, so it's quite normal to question an extra 50 bucks.

So are the MF8's +42 or +52 ??

they're 16x7 +52 all round
15mm spacer on the front
10mm spacer on the rear
