I'm with RACV, and they said no extras for aftermarket springs as long as it is no lower than 10cm from the ground and 30mm from stock height. Has to be comply with Australian standards or something, but they don't require any proof (maybe just to make sure you didn't just chop springs :p).

Same here. I'm with Suncorp and no extra for lowering your car. Same conditions as above.

just make sure in reality you meet those conditions, they do check and i had issues getting a payout.
My car was 100% legal on professional installed king springs, I got the cash

30mm from stock height?? are u sure about this? thats only a 1" drop... what are the australian standards? the two fingers in the wheel arch test?
if i drop the front of my car by 45mm (gen 5 accord) any ideas whether it will still be within normal limits guys??
dominik said the gap in the front arch is 8-10cm if the car is stock, i dont have my car on me at the moment but from memory i think hes right... i can fit my whole hand plus an extra finger in the arch

Australian standards are 10cm clearance under the car. Nothing about how much gap you must have on the guards, or how much you can drop it by; as long as you have 10cm clearance...
Insurance companies make up their own rules though - usually stricter than the RTA...
GIO doesnt mind what mods, as long as its legal... Also, what Perth Euro said is true - some companies check when you have an accident (esp. NRMA, RACV and the other big ones)... you need to take that risk if you plan on going much lower.
(I think you should check the Accord vehicle specs to see how much ground clearance it has stock. You should be able to lower it 2" legally)

My insurance company will only allow a 25mm drop. King springs are 35mm drop fitted (as per a suspension place that fits them). Pedders are 25-30mm drop. K-Mac will custom make your springs to what ever drop you want $340 delivered.

Just wondering.. any one using Just Cars? I think their rates are quite good... Thinking of switching over to them when my current one expires and JC quoted me a price with all my mods and it is less than my current one that doesn't cover my mods...

Just Cars is the subsidiary of AAMI for young punks with modified cars..and they do charge a large premium depending on the car...they dont stuff you around either so you pay and if you have an accident all your mods are covered no worries

Industrie - its not just for young punks, but more specifically it is for modified cars AND/OR young punks.
I.e. young punks, stock car
young punks, modified car
old farts, modified car
But they wont do stock cars for older people. I tried to insure my Accord with them when i bought it (i'm 25), and despite my assurances that i was intending to mod it, they palmed me off to AAMI

AAMI will insure agreed valued along with unlimited mods. I found Just Cars will only insure the car at market value along with unlimited mods.
As for wheels, there was no extra charge with either.

yeah i just found out. stock height from undercarriage to ground is 160mm for the cd5; so maximum drop is 60mm (I wouldnt be so risky though; suspension sags....)
