ok.. heres a little tricky one I suppose...
* i did a search on this and couldn't find anything so give me a break with the 'do a search' comments pls*
I've found a place that has B16As for sale, complete with everything except Exhaust.
Now.. after investigating a little, the B16As come from DA6 Integras - which could be from 1989. Would it be 'Legally' possible to fit one of them into my 91 CRX or not *knowing that older engines are not supposed to*
Having said that - most SiR crxs are 89-90 models anyways and people do the Swaps and get approved etc.
What would be the right solution to this problem?

how would they know what year model the engine is if its an import ??
i put a da6 b16a in my teg and when i went to register it the guy figured out it was an import coz the engine number was diff to aus spec... he said i needed an engineers certificate coz of the import engine but i told him to just right down the engine number as is and ill try n get away with it (which i did).
when he asked what car it came out of i said civic vtir/crx etc... they would never know hehehe

I mean, my crx is Oct 91, so Right on the border line of Gen2/Gen3.
According to the law I can only get a newer Engine - so would have to be out of a Gen3 which are Hydraulic Clutch - not cable. So unless I do the conversion im stuffed right?
Other way to look at it... if i needed to replace my D16A with another D16A, im not going to chase the remaining 2 months of engine production in the D16A - am i? im gonna get the first good D16A or ZC comming my way - which could well be from a 1989 CRX.
mmm... this is interesting...

i dont know how it works but i done the conversion myself...
went to get it registered and they figured i changed the engine..
sent me to get a blue slip for the change of engine number..
then he searched for it in the book and he couldnt find it so he asked me what engine it was.. then he said "engineers certificate for the diff emission laws in japan blah blah".. then i told him the same engine is in cars in australia already eg civic/crx.. hes like ok..
and that was pretty much it
went to the rta and they didnt ask me any questions..

i doubt that actually - cos the civic is a 94, and thats out of a late 90s VtiR.
otherwise an engineer wouldn't certify it I guess?
i mean the car went from a 1.3 Carby to a 1.8 Efi.
