Well after doing some research of Head combinations.. i come to a dead end

My motor is B16A (1st gen with big DOHC stamp from an EF9)

Im planing/decided to throw some cams, valve springs while changing the timing belt (major service)

I stumble to a B18CR head with the stuff i wanted (cams, valve springs retainers)

Whats your call?

Stay b16 head and put the cams, valve springs & retainers?
or Get that b18CR head which already have cams, valve springs & Retainers.

From what i gather/research
B18CR heads is already hand polish and ported with additions of those mods above. it should work / improve the Tq & Power with other supporting mods.

but most guys are running b16 Head.. instead of b18cr head...
which is puzzles me...

theoretically the b18cr head is better than b16...

do i missed out on something?

Thanks,
Chris

What OBD is your B16A? OBD0?

B18CR will be OBD2 right? That's a lot of money to convert/tune.

New dizzy, new alternator, new injectors/plugs, new harness. I'd just stick to the B16A head if I were you - because it's your head and you're familiar with it.

On the other hand I found a B16A head for $130 in terribly sh1t condition so I bought it and had it reco'd for my build...

What cams, valve springs and retainer may i ask? , B18CR is a modded version of a B16A PR3 head ,for stock it comes with Better duration and lift camshafts , dual valve springs and a minor port job on the intake side,
IMO if the head is pretty cheap i say get it and change all your OBD0 stuff into it , the 1st gen B16A head you have, has notoriously loud LMA's which fail in most cases and its quite old so better to upgrade to a newer head.
