MNSR BUILD
NOV '02 DC5R CW!
I bought the DC5R back in the Winter of '07 when my focus was supposed to be on VCE studies. The purchase was a result of 4 years saving, as the desire to own a Jap car during school was something I had set my sights to. The car was bought from an international female student studying abroad with only 28,000km on the clock. Many nights were spent sitting in it listen to music before I actually got my license to drive it.

Now often a very common question that arises when people see my car, before the usual banter of 'nice ride' or 'looks sick'.. is the puzzled expression on their face when they ask about the number plate.. its usually pronounced 'Moon-S-R' or 'Mon-S-R' (yeah, i question the logic of that one too ... well its known as 'Moon-ser', a lot of mystic and mystery surrounds this car and in the areas of balwyn/camberwell/box hill/kew/hawthorn the ride is known as 'the legend of the MOONSR'...... only appearing at unusual times of the day and legend has it that the car has not only a soul, but four!.. each soul represents animals it has killed (1 kangaroo, 1 koala, 2 fox's).... enough of the legend... the number plate was apparently some old-school game called Moonshine Racer, which the previous owner used to play when she was growing up I never liked it in the beginning, but it has grown on me and will carry over to my next car (probably 5 years down the track)

Not until 8 months down the track, I started with some simple yet good basic mods. Thanks to a TODA thread, which I saw somewhere on the web in regards to "BANG FOR BUCK MODS" on a DC5R encourages me to purchase Exedy Sports Organic & Exedy Lightweight Flywheel..... And the bug bit hard!

Next mod came about due to naive fear of hydro-lock... Yep, that's right.. INJEN Short Ram Intake.. While it suffers a bit during summer, I do love its close proximity to the cabin and it's almighty VTEC sound. Also it fills up the engine bay with some thick chrome tubing :P

I spent about 1 entire year researching catbacks - their sound, their gains, their materials, their look and also finding one that wasn't already on a DC5R in Victoria or even Australia. All DC5 owners would now the exhaust catalogue video on the web, which helped me suss out sound levels and reviews on a variety of systems.
In the end I took a leap of faith on the Skunk2 Megapower hoping that it's design and rarity on the road would be something special for my DC5 and till this day I only hear good things from people.. and a slight ringing in my ear :)

Now that I had the cars sound department covered I decided to address my handling. Now after months of my car being violently attacked at car meets with abuse like '4WD spec...Boat Height...Get more lows...I can fit my head in there...' and of course 'dude. something’s wrong with your car and I can not only put my finger on it, I can put a 5 finger gap' (for reference see this link: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6858/img0226llll.jpg).... Along came the Buddy Club Race Spec Damper! And apparently it's still too high :)

Soon to be followed by a shiny Cusco Front Strut & Whiteline 24mm R. Sway-Bar.... The Front strut was a struggle to get on, with minor advancements on stock, but the upgrade from an 18mm sway to 24mm is the best bang for buck suspension mod. $300 well spent :P

Its funny with cars, you save up a certain amount of cash and you say to yourself "I can choose, either get the big expensive mod, or get a few smaller ones".. now usually the big one prevails after each and every man has given you their 2 cents on what you should do. Well for me the choice was the wheels, but as it turns out I lied to myself and am buying things, i really dont need and actually cant afford :) Bring on the Beaks Lower Tie Bar... and Im sure I have quite a few Beaks Buddies now.

Philips Crystal Vision
Number-Plate LED
Mugen Reservoir Cover
Mugen Oil Cap
Number-Plate Relocation
Honda Belt Pads
Stickers :P
Thanks to all that helped me in the process!
