Easy. The fakes are not titanium, so they are much lighter in colour. If you want to see what a genuine one looks like go to your local Honda dealer and ask to see one. The difference is so obvious you will notice as soon as you see a fake.

Basically, the genuine's are much darker than the fakes. The fake ones are almost a light grey. Lemme find a pic of mine and i'll post it here soon. ;)

Sam, here's mine, and yes it is genuine.

If you are really interested i can get one for you. PM me if you have been quoted for one yet and i'll tell you how much i can get them for.

They are small so i'm happy to ship one over to you. :D

This gearknob should fit most Honda's. I've seen it in an EG/EK before. Obviously it will fit most Integra's too.

The thread on the genuine type r knobs and the fake ones are all exactly the same. Every knob will fit every shifter stick.
i.e. a EP3, DC2, EK, DC5 knob WILL fit on a 1985 civic.

the genuine dc2r is very much heavy when compared to s2000 or the dc5r knob.

if i were you, get the s2000 or the dc5r ones...and if the 6 speed bothers you...ask tangie, i think he has the Accord type r ones(5pd) and made of the same material as the s2000 and the dc5r. from honda ofcoz.

The picture above is of my genuine DC2R gearknob. It's made from titanium, it's not bling chrome or anything.

i say go for the accord one from tangy, because its lighter..if you ever have a dc2r gearknob you will feel the weight.

I got an Accord Type R know from Tanghy and it fits on my EK. They look pretty cool and are fairly light and slimmer than the DC2r ones just by looking at them. But they're a bitch in the hot weather.

Skoota,

Can you post a pic of your Accord Type R one please?

My brother works for a Honda dealer and they had one which they 'claimed' was from a Type R Teg but has black print on the H-pattern and was a different shape when I compared it.

He says they can get me brand new ones for $400, but that's Honda pricing, so I'm keen to see what sort of pricing you or vti-2 can get.

Cheers,

Bill.

the font on the top of the gearknob of a genuine is much nicer and done more neatly too i have found. on the cheapies the red paint looks all tacky etc.

the SKUNK2 is the best replica. as the colour is awesome and is very good quality. and heavier than the genuine type R knob

have had both and recommend the skunk2

if u use argon to blast ur DC2R titanium gear knob , coz titanium will change colour when the heat is reach to some certain temperature degree...

if ur gearknob is make by real titanium . try it.... :)

BTW it also can proof ur gearknob weather is titanium or NOT.

coz some seller use too many replica techniques to cheat us and said it is make by Titanium. ( actually it just make by some aircraft aluminium . which is quite light enough as well )

some time the weight also cannot proof enough the gearknob is make by Titanium too even it is really lightweight. ( do u agree ?)

unless u bought from OEM Honda dealers ....

Good Luck~~!!! :)
