Hi all,
I am searching for Philips HID kit, and i found a ot of Philips product on the internet....
AND i have read some reviews about Philips HID, some said that Philips is not making ballast for HID anymore, but i have seen so many Philips on the net (such as eBay) that having the ballast, and the price of Philips on eBay varies significantly..........
it confues me.....does anyone know how much is a REAL philips HID kit cost?
and how to tell if one is real Philips HID kit?
Thanks a lot

and to Stig, i did read a lot of thing online regarding the Philips HID kit, and i have asked my friend to check for me from other country as well.
I am just so confused with the REAL philips HID as the price and packaging on the internet for the Philips HID varies GREATLY...so, i would llike to know how to find out iff that is real...
AND, some said Philips no longer make ballast for the HID kit, then, where does those ballast come from inside the philips HID kit sold online?
i wish there is some experts who can help me with this so that i wouldnt be ripped off by buying sth worthless online with huge spent......

They are probably fakes. Most are fakes. Real phillips will be very expensive.. and you won't get anything mroe than 4300k in phillips (or something like that). I doubt anyone owns a plug-n-play phillips kit anyway.
Buy kaixens if you can find them. MTEC is a good brand too. and if you CBF spending, just go for a cheap kit from one of the ozhonda traders, it'll do.

i know Philips is offering only 2 types - 4300k or 6000k, but on their web site, they didnt show the price.....so, i couldnt get a brenchmark of how much will the Philips one cost....and that's why i have no idea how does those 'Philips' pricing work on the eBay.....
hmm....Kaixen, i know, i got one web site here:
http://www.kaixenkits.com/community.htm
is it the correct place to buy? or anywhere cheaper?
i was thinking if i pay like 300+ for those mtec or kaixen, why wouldnt i choose Philips if the price are not too far away....
and since i have to buy online, i want to get more commments before making the purchase so that i wont get the one that i dont like eventually...
thanks a lot......

ah that's right, i read somewhere that you get phillips ballast.. but then some random brand bulbs... just get another brand, don't be hung up on phillips, especially with the amount of fake stuff..
You used to be able to get kaixens here for $200ish i think.
KZ traiding no longer sells them :(

those parkers are hugely expensive... same yourself $$$ and get a cheapo 10 pack for like $5 from Ebay. I've had my parkers in for months and still no issues yet (touchwood).
but hey, if you're willing to spend that much on parkers, then go ahead be my guest, it's your money.
PS: I also think feel your constant thread bombing is annoying.

^ as he said, no need to purchase expensive ass parker lights as your not even going to use them often. Some deals on ebay with decent HID's that come with like free parkers as well

you don't need to quality from philips unless you're going to do a whole retrofit and use d2s bulbs etc.
Seriously, just ebay a set at around $100 and you will be set.

yeah, i saw some on the ebay with cheap price, BUT....those parker light, the tip of it is yellow in color, so, if i do not turn on the parker light during the daytime, then it looks quite abnormal to have a yellow dot in my FD2 headlight.....isnt it?

i checked the marketplace section, but none of them selling HID kit, except those cheap China one.....
is there anyone selling brands like Mtec, Kaixen?
And, i saw from the web site, Mtec got a new HID, called D1 type, comes with a very small ballast, does anyone know if it is good? will the small ballast not good at diffusing heat?
And if i got the Mtec bulb blown, can i replace the bulb with other brand's bulb?
thanks a lot.

That's the price alright. $200 ish
I was supposed to link those to you... but for somereason my eye skipped over the writing. I don't hink the slim balast will have any problem if they're from Kaixen - they are more likely to be

so, the slim ballast will be the same as the original ballast?
hmm.....$200 ish?? what does 'ish' mean?
so, Kaixen should be priced at about $200?
coz i saw one web site, sth like kaixenkits.com, it is priced at $329 USD......so, that one must be cheating....am i right?
here is the link:
http://www.kaixenkits.com/
This one should not be the official Kaixen web site then, am i right?

90%+ of the philips kits on ebay are fakes
if u would like to pay me $200, well that's my cost + shipping only
i can find u some reali good ones from china
believe or not those factories they make OEM for brand names
i m talking abt 55W kits with real good quality that will outperform any kit under $400 on ebay
$200 is for bi-xenon kit, single beam wud cost u less ($180 i guess?)
see my del sol thread for the astonishing result
mine running 55W 4300k H4
sharp cut off just like factory halogens, no shit

i bought one recently. nothing wrong with them. had philip serial number stampped into the hard metal moulding. you can register your product online in the philip website and it passed? im not sure if mine is fake. but it light up great. the area it covers is good too. i think its really up to you if you want to risk it. but hey for the price of $180.. come on. if its fake and it works well. who cares... plus i think the seller i bought it from also gave me a H4 philip crystal vision 4300k lightbulbs. now that works really good too. i think they retail that bulb for about $60 here? so really you getting the hid kit for $120.
Don't bother investing money on expensive HID kits.
I got an aftermarket 50W 6000k on my FD from eB**, it is extremely bright (highly recommend getting projectors for 50W, if you are on reflectors i.e. stock headlights... it will blind the crap out of oncoming traffic!)
They are just as reliable (had them for 2 years no blown bulb or anything), quality and light output is perfect. See pictures below. I also modified the fogs (H9-H11 conversion) to produce higher light output - again too bright only switch them on when I'm in rural areas.

wt's worth in the $$ kits are their quick warm up time and stable colour temperature,
my low beam is a $$ kit it takes only 3sec for everything to settle down while my cheap hi beam takes abt 15sec lol

Looks like you'ev got good glare control with them
Dot, do you haev a cutoff pic for those angel eyes?

Certainly, the beauty of having projector's is the very fine cutoff i.e. you can actually see a distinctive line unlike stock headlight which makes the light look shattered
Not to go off topic too much, just some quick tips for people who are planning to buy projectors:
1. Make sure you get the RHD version, the headlights on the right are aimed slightly inclined to the left at an angle not to produce glare for oncoming traffic
2. After you get it, adjust the aiming with a screwdriver until it is acceptable - its either up or down (FYI - if you notice people high beaming you all the time, you know they aren't correctly aimed... fix it!)
Hope this helps!

Hi, may i ask what is RHD??
and where did u get ur projector from? i mean, the internet link if u bought it from the internet.
is it this one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/CCFL-Angel-Eyes-Projector-Head-Lights-CIVIC-FD1-FD2-06-/130465943343?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e60604f2f

RHD = Right hand drive. The aiming on LHD cars are different because they drive on the other side of the road.
That's the one I had which is the original version, the other ones were too Audi wannabe's and I didn't like them at all.
Yes I had 50W 4300K HID's then I switched to 6000K for a slightly whiter/bluish tint.

excellent pic dot, shows exactly what i've always wanted to see.
looks like that's a godo set of projctors, probably a tiny lack of sidespread but oh well.
I've seen some with even less sidespread and a sort of lumpy beam distribution,
